@farmingandJesus @BreeSolstad Mortal sins must be confessed in the sacrament of confession to a priest with faculties to hear confession and granr absolution. Venial sin can be forgiven by asking God directly to forgive you...such as in the shower. Most acts of piety can forgive venial sin.

After much research, I have found that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the only church that aligns most closely with the church Jesus Christ established according to the Bible. Two main truths: • It maintains active apostles and prophets (matching Ephesians 4:11–13’s “until” clause). • It restores priesthood authority conferred by the laying on of hands and performs the exact ordinances listed (baptism, confirmation by laying on of hands, sacrament).

@Selfbasting @Holy__Bible1 That is fair. I should have stated it differently. I didn’t mean they were the same name in different languages. What I meant was in Hebrew speaking areas he was referred to as Saul. In Latin speaking areas he was referred to as Paul. Thanks for pointing that out.

@StuffForSisters As a man, my say is that we go to church as a family. The decision on where to go is made by discussing with my wife and coming to a conclusion together. Not everything is about bossing people around. We are a team. Concessions are made all the time by both parties.

Yeah, I don’t necessarily agree with that guy, but man, please give us some grace. We’re doing the best we can. It’s so hard to control a kid younger than 3. Believe me, we feel the eyes when they cry or are loud. We take them outside when being overly uncontrollable, but can only do so much.

Our church just said it was customary to offer a donation if able (no set amount) and to donate a stipend to the deacon if able (no set amount) who was giving up his free time to perform the Baptism. In Matthew 10:10 and Luke 10:7, Jesus states, the laborer deserves his food/wages. 🤷🏻♂️

Imagine the apostles asking for donations to baptize people. Imagine asking for money for one of the 2 biblical sacraments.
Paul wrote a letters about this, perhaps read it even if your institution disregards it.

What are you talking about. Recommended means that if you cannot afford it you don't have to. Baptisms cost money (for prep materials, musicians, etc). A lot of people who are not part of the community show up once to get their baby baptized and never show up again. Asking them to cover their costs if they can afford to (and honestly $50 probably doesn't cover the costs) is not unreasonable.
