@DunkDawk No one was saying Marian bread is better than German bread. There is high quality 4 ingredients bread all over the place in the U.S. even at discount grocers.

@DunkDawk @upstatefederlst That's not true either, those bakeries are inconsistent and more than half make shit bread. American average beats Euro average every time.

Guy who made scratch bread for a supermarket here: No it doesn't. The base recipe for every bread is a 50 lb bag of enriched flour, a block of fresh yeast, water, and a bunch of salt. Mix-ins like sun-dried tomatoes etc are added as needed.
Virileth@VirilethDerg

@RealPostFolder American here, yes our "bread" is junk food The closest we have to actual bread is in the bakery section and even that stuff has added ingredients not found in real bread

This is the new version of what I used to call "the paragraph" where leftists will say a variety of terms out, and scan for your reaction to them. Whichever you react negatively to, is the one they'll press. It used to be "racist, sexist, mysoginist, homophobe" etc, those no longer work, so they have changed to those words. The words don't actually mean anything to leftists, they see words as a weapon to hurt you and manipulate you with. They see this as a communication mechanism of how to hurt you, by scanning what you care about, then using that against you. This is a pretty important milestone in leftist politics, it means that they think the old liberal versions no longer work and they are trying new tactics now.

Kyle Kulinski on Trump: “He’s a catastrophic, malignant narcissist. He has deep, deep mental illness. He’s violent, he’s bigoted, he’s extremist. He’s self-absorbed to an extent we’ve never fucking seen before. He’s corrupt beyond imagination. He exhibits all those negative characteristics and you still have 33% of the country that rides for this man?”

Yes, actually, that is the basic idea behind a kid taking a part time job outside the home. The point is not for your kid to make money so you don't have to pay for what they consume. The point is for them to develop a self-identity outside the home before they're adults.

@st_louis_stan Retarded Boomer thought: a kid should spend their most vital and developmental years part timing at mcdonalds so they can "learn to work"

@goodman_fe74718 @DunkDawk @st_louis_stan Fast food is not work experience. The reason it pays so little and can be done by inbred halfwits, is that it is an easy mindless job. Also no they aren't, most fast food are desperately trying to hire and can't (Good)

White parents are making their sons waste their teenage years selling pee pee rug scraps for pocket money meanwhile every Chinese and Indian family is pulling out all the stops and spend whatever it takes to make sure their kids get into their T20 school of choice
Brandon Doyle@Brandondoyle

This is my son. He is almost 16 and wants a vehicle. I refuse to buy him one and told him he needs to pay for it himself. He got a job as a rec basketball league referee and quickly realized how long it would take to save up enough money to get a $3k car making $12/hour. Then I showed him some cooler $6k options on Bring a Trailer and he got the itch to make more money. I gave him countless ideas to pursue. He wasn't feeling any of them. Then I decided to show him some podcast episodes from @mhp_guy (he's listened to some from Chris before and was a fan). No ideas were really hitting home until he heard an episode between Chris and @ShannonJean about reselling. He fell in love. So I showed him a few more and he was convinced that that was the route he should take. We started browsing B-Stock and then realized we need a state tax license and some other stuff so we got that all set up. Then we browsed some more. Endless deals. We settled on buying 115 rugs at an average of $13/rug after shipping. They're all Costco returns. Various sizes, some in better condition than others. He now has to figure out how to sell all these through my Facebook Marketplace account. I won't be helping him at all, other than answering questions and casually giving him strategic ideas here and there. If he can sell the rugs at an average price of $35 (keep in mind some are brand new and are 10' x 14' large), he'll make $2500 in profit. Then we can start car shopping :). P.S. Chris and Shannon - thanks for the motivation!!!

@Yeeticussch @xwanyex Plenty of countries with an effective 0% tax rate. Yet none of these people want to live in Sierra Leone or Somalia so they can be free of their "slavery" to the government or whatever. Odd, isnt it.

The primary concern is the size of the property tax. The instinct is against a tax large enough to force employment. If you want be free of "that burden," ok, there are plenty of places within the country to live where the land value is low enough to be able to retire and afford the tax just on savings. The American perspective to be "free of the government" meant moving West to undeveloped land where you were on your own on a homestead. But, oh, you want to live in a city and benefit from modern amenities and easy access to all kinds of luxuries? It's just the infantile tantrum "I want to benefit from modern society but without having to contribute to it" rebranded for people who never grew up.

The operative intuition against property taxes looks something like this: * If you're already working and the gov taxes some of it away, then that's not great, but you already needed to work, so it's not a binary change. * If you have to pay taxes to own land, then there's never any way to be free of that burden. It's a step change from, "I own this" to, "I rent it from the government." It may be a binary change from, "I can live on savings" vs. "my largest expense, by far, is my property taxes, for which I must now seek employment." You can have whatever opinions you want to about this intuition -- I gather than many leftists are repulsed by it -- but it's a quintessentially American perspective to want to have to ability to be free of the government in this particular way.

@memeticsisyphus "I dont want to pay for anything but I want to enjoy first world quality of life and state capacity." Money understander has logged on. If you want to pay effective 0% on property tax, you are welcome to move to Sierra Leone or Somalia and enjoy all the benefits of living there
