Everything is nuanced. People can change their minds. Everyone thinks that their perspective is right and good. It's all stuff we're making up anyway. ❤️

@DMBrowers Oh, I mean, I agree with you. This is an age old case of humans continually fail the marshmallow test. They prioritize things that are actually not good for them, long term.

@Kazanjy Engineers prefer it but, in my experience, the best ideas and leaps forward came when we were all in a room together. Probably a context-specific kind of thing.

Yeah. I tend to agree. Though R&D is the place where it’s least negative as a result of R&D staff being good typers and readers (for asynch comms). And also engineers don’t like face to face communication because it’s exhausting. ; ) This is why the GitHub’s and zapiers and gitlabs and so forth are the standard examples of distributed success. Though fair to point out that figma fucking rekt invision in no small part because invision was distributed and couldn’t react.

Can’t believe OpenAI figured out AGI before Apple figured out how to make Siri do anything

@Kazanjy Agreed. And that communication and coordination overhead has a direct impact on the velocity of innovation on the R&D side.

@DMBrowers They get triggered by it because it offends their current state. It’s ok to prefer a remote startup. Just recognize that you are eating a communication and coordination overhead that likely isn’t made up for by a potential recruiting and retention advantage.

The best thing to do with your old digital camera is give it to your kids. So fun to see your world through their POV.

@tszzl Literally every company with some modicum of success has former employees that could write this. It’s how Glassdoor exists.

Cut through the (overwhelming) AI-related noise, clout-chasing, and "check my prompts" posts and give my man Emad's newsletter a subscription. Super smart guy with an incredible ability to explain the tech and implications of AI. ehasan.com

@scottPellett @Plambey No, those were the room names when we were on Ocean Park but they were named after the first two office locations.
