Is this how we do journalism now - ask the local tyre man? EV version of a car may wear tyres faster than its ICE sibling, the average EV on the road is smaller and lighter than the average ICE. Wear does not scale linearly with: •mass •wheel size •power Instead, it jumps sharply with: •SUV geometry •wide tyres •large wheel diameters •high ride height + suspension loads So: •One heavy ICE SUV can emit far more tyre PM than two small EVs •Fleet composition dominates over drivetrain effects But it’s largely irrelevant compared to other vehicle emissions namely NO₂, CO, hydrocarbons, and PM And then there’s brakes. EV brake wear reduction by EV adoption ~60–85%. UK urban driving pushes this toward the upper end EVs aren’t “zero-impact,” but they are decisively cleaner where people breathe.. The next big challenge isn’t engines—it’s tyres, weight, and total vehicle size. “My mate in the pub said” is just shit journalism no matter which side of the zero emissions spectrum you stand on!

Tyres on EVs last around 30% less time than those on ICE cars.. All about weight. Also of course leave a lot more micro plastics behind them as result (or so a tyre man tells me..). Maybe it's just a different kind of pollution.

@Mattyboycarper Where you at? That’s extortionate, community clubs charging much less, £20 a month for my lads team, no signing on fee cause they are kids. Facilities are not as good as some clubs but the money is invested back into the maintenance of grounds, kids kits, tournaments etc.

Just renewed my lads for another season at grassroots football. U10 and u12. X2 Saturday MJPL and x1 Sunday. Almost 2k for the season in joining fees and monthly subs +purchase of the kit. This football life is getting expensive #grassrootsfootball 😫

@ListerLawrence Have you tried pressing down on the roof above where the hooks latch down as you try to cycle it. Sometimes doesn’t see the connection on the switch.

I’ve tired lubing up the window rubbers 😏 and now I’m trying the batteries disconnected for an hour to see if that works. Also fully charging both batteries. Fingers crossed.
