When you enter a Roman Catholic church, most often, you will see a large crucifix of our our Lord suffering on the cross. This is the focal point and the most important image in the church. Many Catholic cathedrals are typically designed so that we feel small and lowly while God is big and heaven is far up. Many of these churches will also have around the outer walls, various depictions of Christ suffering called the 'stations of the cross'. Trailing them a person is invited to pray and meditate on each image. From self flagellation, to stigmatist saints, to purgatory where we must all suffer greatly a cleansing fire before entering heaven. There is much emphasis on pain and suffering. Even in confession, the focus is on mortal sins and making sure they are confessed right away or the soul is in jeopardy of hellfire for eternity. When you enter an Orthodox church, though there are clearly images of our suffering Lord, it's not the main focal point. One of the most common images as the focal point is the incarnation of God sitting upon the lap of the Theotokos. If it's not an image of the incarnation, then it's usually an image of our risen Lord in His glorified state. An Orthodox church is typically designed to feel like we are included in the Kimgdom of Heaven, surrounded by saints at every corner and heaven bowing low to meet us. Instead of focusing on commandments to follow and sins to avoid, the emphasis is to become a person of the beatitudes. The focus is not to suffer or meditate on suffering but to let mercy and love pour from our spirit and be transformed by it. Suffering is transformed into something beautiful and doesn't need to be self-inflicted. The man of the 11th hour will receive his due payment without a beating from God first. The focus is that we are invited to participate in the Kingdom of Heaven and recieve it's gifts and for our hearts to change. There is suffering involved, but it's a byproduct of becoming a Saint, not intentionally applied or meditated on. Eternal life is of healing, not wounds, of joy, not suffering, of mercy, not punishment.

Okay, milk drinkers..... no X for Lent. ๐Ÿฅ› Become humble, let the world not worry you, bring your heart to repentance, bring your mind to hesychasm, bring your hands to charitable works, discipline your body against the passions. The great fool of the 21st century is clearly @kanyewest . Just finished the documentary โ€œIn Whose Nameโ€ which is brilliant. Toward the end, Ye says: โ€œIt's one of two things is gonna happen now. Either they destroy me or I destroy it. It being the label. I'm destroying the labels. The label of crazy, the label of anti-Semite, the label of black, label of white, straight, gay, rich, poor, cool, uncool. I'm destroying the labels, all the fucking labels.โ€ Yes, no one has destroyed the old order like he has, not through theory but embodied action. Hopefully his soul survives the flood.

The object of my post was that because people disagreed with her giving a homily they would lie about her and that's gross. I'm of the opinion that bishops can make their choice here and she is acting within her bounds according to the authority of the bishops and the priests. If they decide to bar her from preaching then I also think the bishops and priests are within their authority to do so. I just don't know why people have to add extra slander on her over this issue.

@PaschaPress @buckrebel @AudioScribeOW @Dissident_Mama @jaydyer There were lies told about her. I don't mind if someone agrees or disagrees if she should give homilies. My stance is to take heed to what your priest and bishop says about the matter. But to slander and make up lies on the basis of disagreement is gross.

A reflection on the eve of Great Lent Accusing someone is heresy is serious business. It's really a matter of life and death. If we're being proper, it's so serious that SOMEONE should be excommunicated whenever it happens. Either the one being accused, if they're found to be in heresy, or the one accusing, if they're found to be making accusations carelessly, so that they can see the seriousness of their error and return through repentance. Y'all really need to stop calling people heretics whenever they do something you don't like or act in a way you think is improper. Call out error, sure, but carefully and only after prayer and reflection. But you should probably almost never accuse your brother of heresy. This is serious business, and it's very likely you are committing a GRAVE SIN when you do this. So if you find yourself in a place where you want to do this, please realize what's going on. That's most likely a demon who has sunk it's hooks into and wants to drag you down into hell. If you ever find yourself in that place on a conversation here on the Internet, step away. Take time to pray about it before going any further. Back away from your keyboard before responding in a way that condemns you. If you find yourself willing to do this easily, then please go repent. Confess. Take time you fasting and prayer. If you've come this far that throwing out charges of heresy comes easy and doesn't move you to tears when you say or type those words, then you should fear for your own soul. This is serious business, and the unseriousness with which it is treated here on X is a cause for great concern.

My understanding and my thoughts are that we live in a unique age in history where there are well educated women abundant in the world, something that was almost nonexistent for most of Christian history. And a homily based in spiritual reflection is not the same as teaching in an authoritative manner, as in instructing the faith or performing sacramental duties. So there may need to be some back and forth within the episcopal offices on how to handle these things in their appropriate context. I don't have an issue if a bishop doesn't allow women to give a homily, but if one blesses it to be done then it's not our job to protest more than just talking with the priests and bishops about what concerns us.

Final thoughts on the whole women at pulpit thing. Not generally a fan. And I think it should be avoided. That said I do think people are digging for reasons to make a mountain out of a molehill. Precisely cause they dont like some of the Dr. Constantus takes.

Not a cassock, not a priests cross, and blessed by the bishop. Eugenia Constaninou is being lied about because people are lazy not doing any research and want to invoke a democratic reaction among the layity as if the church operates this way at all. What your bishop teaches and permits is what you should hold to in the affairs of the church and your diaconate. Slander and lies will not bring us closer to God.
