CBC's rolls out Ian Bremmer yet again today for his sage geopolitical wisdom... introduction? "Founder and president of Eurasia Group." Still deliberately forgetting to mention he's the boss of Prime Minister Mark Carney's wife Diana Fox Carney, employer of Gerry Butts, and former home of Evan Solomon Just a totally normal, fully disclosed expert chat Nothing to see here โ€” especially not the untendered Eurasia Group government contracts Selective disclosure is CBC's favorite pastime @brodiefenlon @CBCOmbud
cbcwatcher@cbcwatcher

Once again, CBC's Power and Politics doesn't disclose the boss of Carney's wife Diana Fox Carney, or Evan Solomon or Gerry Butts... or his Eurasia's untendered government contracts for a million plus... Just "For more analysis on the war, I'm joined now by Ian Bremmer. He's the founder and president of the Eurasia Group. And Gzero Media" Selective disclosure isn't disclosure @brodiefenlon

In what universe is it ok for the Canadian government to be funding/subsidizing a US magazine.
THE OFFICIAL RECORD@SatireSquadHQ

EXCLUSIVE: Ottawa Quietly Adds TIME Magazine to Canadian Journalism Subsidy List By Nick Shelly, Independent Journalist April 19, 2026 OTTAWA โ€” Canadian taxpayers may soon be helping foot the bill for TIME magazineโ€™s glowing coverage of Prime Minister Mark Carney. According to sources at Canadian Heritage, the department is fast-tracking TIME for eligibility under the Canada Periodical Fund after the U.S. publication ranked Carney second on its 2026 Most Influential Leaders list. The profile, written by Christine Lagarde, praised his โ€œcrisis steering,โ€ climate warnings, and push for global cooperation. TIME took office? No โ€” Carney did, in March 2025 after Trudeauโ€™s resignation, winning the April election and securing a majority via bye-elections on April 13. While supporters cheer his centrist steadiness, critics like Pierre Poilievre blame earlier policies for ongoing inflation and question his financial track record. A government insider put it plainly: โ€œThey understand Carneyโ€™s vision. That makes them part of the Canadian media family now.โ€ The move expands โ€œCanadian contentโ€ to include international outlets that deliver favourable coverage of the Prime Minister. Exact funding amounts remain unclear, but the program has already directed millions to โ€œdiverse voicesโ€ aligned with national priorities. When asked for comment, Canadian Heritage said it supports journalism that โ€œstrengthens democracy.โ€ Critics call it something else: buying influence with taxpayer dollars. This reporter has requested documents and will update as they arrive. Canadians deserve to know whose โ€œmost influentialโ€ list their money is subsidizing. Nick Shelly reports on government accountability and media funding. No subsidies received.

I remember them well and Carney doesnโ€™t seem to want to clear these up and find our money. One would think with all his education and experience he could do the job in no time, maybe heโ€™s lying about his credentials and canโ€™t do it.

๐ŸšจCARNEY CAUGHT๐Ÿšจ Mark Carney just claimed he he invented a financial approach called forward guidance in 2008. The U.S. Federal Reserve was already using it in 2003โ€“2004. This isnโ€™t just a bad claimโ€ฆ it tells you exactly how he governs. And we just believe him.

Hey Shawn - tell us why electric vehicles failed 100 years ago, or why smart manufacturers today are walking away from building appliances that arenโ€™t subsidized? Grift is hardly a basis for sound industrial policy and fantasia of โ€œbecause itโ€™s 2015โ€ look maudlin in 2026
Shawn O'Leary@VE3ZMO

@GasPriceWizard It took 30 years to switch from horses to cars. Dan would have been a die hard horse advocate back then. The change is inevitable. He just doesn't like it. EV semi trucks and package cars exist. Fuel gets more expensive every day. The market will force the change to EVs.

The damaging of a Christian religious symbol by an IDF soldier in southern Lebanon is grave and disgraceful. I commend the IDF for its statement, for condemning the incident, and for conducting an investigation into the matter. Iโ€™m confident that the necessary strict measures will be taken against whoever carried out this ugly act. This shameful action is completely contrary to our values. Israel is a country that respects the different religions and their sacred symbols, and upholds tolerance and respect among faiths. We apologize for this incident and to every Christian whose feelings were hurt.

Can someone teach Premier Smith how medicine works: 1 - a patient has symptoms. They feel something. Let's say there's a headache. 2 - a clinical history is taken. A story. 3 - a physical exam is done. Maybe that headache is shingles. ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡ 4 - a differential diagnosis is generated. A list of ideas what could be the problem. 5 - treatment, testing or both are considered. Let's do a swab of that rash just above your hairline and treat with valacyclovir. 6 - a test or treatment is done and the situation is reassessed. Ah, I see the rash has crusted over now and the shingles swab is positive. You don't need an MRI. 7- at any point, a specialist opinion may be needed. The shingles has progressed close to your eye now, let's get ophthalmology to look at you. The way medicine doesn't work is I have a headache and I book myself in for a private MRI which is normal because an MRI doesn't diagnose shingles, migraine headaches, temporal arteritis or acute angle closure glaucoma. It's insane to think there is no one likely advising the Alberta government on how actual medicine is performed in 2026 - or for that matter in 2016, 2006, 1996 or 1986. The thing that should never happen is symptom leading to go get myself tested jumping the queue just because you have more money and jumping ahead of someone maybe with a new brain cancer on CT that really needs that MRI more than you for your shingles. None of what Alberta is doing is for patient good. It's for something else. But not for patients. cbc.ca/news/canada/edโ€ฆ

Hereโ€™s Mark Carneyโ€™s illusion: he wants to keep Canadians in a state of fear and panic to distract from all of his costly failures at home. The Carney Liberals have given us the worst food inflation, the worst household debt, the worst housing costs, and the only shrinking economy in the G7. He has not repealed a single anti-development law, approved a single pipeline, and housing construction is actually falling. To top it all off, heโ€™s doubled the deficit Justin Trudeau left behind. These are all Liberal-made problems that Carney made worse. And as for the U.S., Mark Carneyโ€™s talk of a rupture with the customer that buys two-thirds of our goods is not a plan. He has not negotiated a single new Free Trade Agreement with any country on earth. The meetings, photo ops, and non-binding memoranda are all an illusion. Mark Carneyโ€™s agenda is about enriching a small group of well-connected Liberal elites like him, who get corporate handouts of tax dollars and use tax havens to avoid paying the same bills they are charging you. If we want to be affordable at home, safe at home, and strong at home we must make real change at home. Thatโ€™s why Conservatives are fighting for an end to wasteful Liberal spending. Let us cut corporate welfare, consultants, foreign aid, and handouts to fake refugees. Unblock our resources. Unleash our entrepreneurs. Approve pipelines and major projects today. Incentivize municipalities to build homes. Cut the gas taxes on farmers, truckers, and steelmakers. Stop the money-printing and inflationary deficits that drive up the cost of everything. Thatโ€™s the only way we will be strong at home and unbreakable abroad.
