Don’t put off retirement.
My former boss, in his 60s, retired in October, a month before I announced my retirement. He developed some kind of rapid-onset dementia and no longer recognizes anyone. Just months after retiring, his wife was selling all of his hunting and fishing gear. He had two grandbabies born just before his retirement, which was the reason for retiring. He and his wife built a nursery in their home in excitement of their arrival.
He worked toward a retirement that he imagined would be filled with those hobbies and the joy of his new grandchildren, only for that chapter to be cut short in such a cruel way.
Don’t put off retirement.
A federal judge sitting in Washington, D.C. decided that Florida fishermen don’t get to fish.
This judge is a hundred miles from the ocean and a thousand miles from reality.
Our fishermen work hard, follow the rules, and put food on the table — and now some activist in a robe is telling them they can’t.
These out-of-touch federal judges need to stay in their lane and stop treading on Florida’s fishermen.
Today I'd like to spend time giving back to the community.
If you share about AI animation, filmmaking, coding, or building something interesting, I'd like to see your work.

Here in Houston we have a local sketch comedy troop who shows up anytime there’s a racially polarizing news story.
They’re called “Nuh uh, no you didn’t!”
🚨 Dr. Stacey Patton, a professor at Howard University, wrote an article in which she blamed Austin Metcalf – and his family – for Karmelo Anthony's decision to murder him.
Titled "Dear Jeff Metcalf: Your Son is Dead Because You Failed to Teach Him That Black Boys Have Boundaries," the article argues that Jeff Metcalf failed to teach Austin that "black children have boundaries." In other words, Jeff should have taught Austin that black people will try to kill you if you ask them to stop violating social norms.
While Patton falls short of outright defending Karmelo's decision, the entire purpose of the piece is to rationalize his behavior. Kind of like "Sure Karmelo shouldn't have stabbed him, but it was Austin's fault at the end of the day."
She writes, "We have to talk about Austin's decision to approach and confront." As if Austin didn't have the right to tell someone from another school to leave his school's tent. As if somehow that minor confrontation justifies stabbing him in the heart. It is complete insanity. Patton ties Austin's behavior to "a long cultural tradition of policing black bodies and space."
Right.
Patton's Substack has nearly 50k followers. He has 300k followers on Facebook. She is an accomplished professor and journalist. The article received thousands of likes. We've all seen the low-class black people causing a scene outside of the courthouse. But it appears that even many educated blacks believe that people of their race have the right to murder anyone who asks them to stop playing music in public, respect physical boundaries, and so on.
"Let us do what we want or we'll kill you" appears to be the message being broadcast by a sizable share of the black community. You don't have to be a far-right radical to recognize the many unsettling implications this holds for the future of American race relations.
Podcaster Larry Reid calls for a "mass exodus" of black Americans to Africa in response to the Karmelo Anthony verdict.
"I want you to begin to think about this America and the white people problem that we have... As a collective, let's drain this place of its benefits and make our mass exodus and go home and build."
"Civil rights did not make white people that are infected with whiteness stop being racist. They still raised racist children that run this country to this day."
"You come from a land that flows with milk and honey. They pulled you out of that land ancestrally and brought you to a place to where your royalty was not recognized. Used your black power, your black mysticism, your African spirituality, and your physiological superiority to build this country and give everybody reparations except you."
@potensicdrones You finally did it! The 2 was my very first drone and what made me fall in love with the hobby. I’m looking forward to trying this one out.

One of Karmelo Anthony's most outspoken supporters, Jerome Parker Winston, was arrested shortly after the verdict.
Winston had repeatedly clashed with people outside the courthouse throughout the trial. Was recorded jumping up and down in a white man's face.
Following Anthony's conviction and 35-year sentence for the fatal stabbing of Austin Metcalf, Winston was taken into custody on a charge of unlawfully carrying a weapon.
You can't make this stuff up.
A House hearing went off the rails when Rep. Jasmine Crockett launched into a blistering attack on Republicans and Martin Luther King Jr.’s niece.
The Texas Democrat took aim at the GOP as a “majority… White” party while criticizing lawmakers for spotlighting civil rights activist Alveda King during a hearing examining the Southern Poverty Law Center.
At one point, Crockett suggested Republicans were trying to make the public think a “Doctor King” was condemning the SPLC, prompting a fiery response from King.
King responded saying Crockett's comments made her "emotional" and later questioned whether Crockett was calling her a "bastard" of the King name — but by by the time she responded, Crockett had already stormed away from the room.
