It's only a matter of time until a tornado comes through standstill traffic that completely blocks the highway just because of hail and kills a line of stuck motorists. In this case I actually got out of my car and walked through the barely 1" hail and stood in front of the banked up cars and then they cleared the travel lanes. I'm slowly drying off. Please can we at least keep the travel lanes open. Captured near Caddo, Oklahoma. @NWSNorman #okwx

@theauroraguy @randymilanovic I don’t think it’s picket fence, it appears to be recovery phase Aurora. Sometimes you can get bands like that during recovery phase that have a picket fence like look. And the ones in the video aren’t behaving like typical PF

@randymilanovic Those independent pillars at the beginning appear to be "Picket Fence Aurora", as the do not seem to be a part of the aurora band.

Just like that, we are back at the anniversary of April 23rd, 2023. My first Aurora. A night I’ll never forget. After missing the March 23rd geomagnetic storm just a month earlier, I was determined not to miss this one. The aurora raged all night long. What a treat it was!

This was before I knew how to properly shoot Aurora, including manual focus, so these were all shot at 30 seconds on autofocus, so many of my images turned out terrible and I couldn’t figure out why 😅
