For anyone who consistently uses a TOVO style methodology (rondos, positional games & training games), have you ever found players get bored from the repetitiveness?

@coachryanjones @Hutton_Sharp @TexasCoachMike I view tovo as an idea. How I want to train. How I want to use principles. And I use it to help my perspective. But ultimately my game model as a mix of it with all the other similar things like it. All JDP

@Hutton_Sharp @JacobBrownDOC @TexasCoachMike Thanks to both of you for sharing. It's clear that despite leaning into TOVO methodologies, you're not just running 4v2 > 4v4+3 > Game every week with your practices. I think the only thing I would add is Flying Changes & it's variations.

@coachryanjones @Hutton_Sharp @TexasCoachMike As far as attitude. It’s adding in mini competitions. Fun ice breakers , such as making a letter in the grass with your bodies. Being enthusiastic. High pace means more fun imo. The more lag time. The less fun

@coachryanjones @Hutton_Sharp @TexasCoachMike For the younger ages. My rondos may repeat. I do 2v2+2 all the time. But the kids love it. And it’s rly just taking a page out of any other methodology or as simple as focusing on different principles. Last night I worked on driving into the space.

@coachryanjones @Hutton_Sharp @TexasCoachMike For me personally. No. However some of our teams with newer coaches doing it. Yes. It’s all about how you do it. Are you making it fun for them with your own attitude. Are you mixing it up just enough that it FEELS different every practice even tho it may be very similar.

They has done this quite a bit this season. Boring and terrible for a half. Energy and intensity in the 2nd. Why do we start so passive

@JacobBrownDOC Everyone progresses at different rates, so it wouldn't really be based on age (I know it's just context). More about what it looks like for novice -> elite execution, and what drills might help get there.

I am curious. Does anyone know of anyone who has an individual technical program that starts from a brand new player to what they consider elite. Maybe an 8 to 12 year old etc. There’s so many random technical things out there but it all seems randomly thrown together

@PaulSpacey @ccmembersonly I do. The passion of players in the 70s and 80s played with outshines the supposed skill of today. Scrappy, determined and hard nosed players compared to entitled floppers.

5 years old - Dad knows everything! 7 years old - Dad knows. 10 years old - Maybe Dad doesn’t know?! 12 years old - Dad doesn’t know. 14 years old - Dad's gone crazy! 16 years old - Can’t take Dad seriously. 18 years old - What does dad know?! 22 years old - Dad's talking rubbish! 24 years old - I know more than Dad! 26 years old - Dad seems to know some things after all. 30 years old - Think I should ask Dad about this?! 40 years old - It’s amazing how Dad went through all this! 45 years old - Dad's been right all along. 50 years old - If Dad was here, I could have learned a lot from him.
