@KevP62 @CincyShadow We should not tax property. Your “land value tax” is a property tax. Your solution to property taxes is to impose a property tax with a different name. To prevent property assessment going up you will assess the land (property) and tax that assessment. Other taxes are fairer

What these neo-nazi aligned freaks won't tell you is that the blanket property tax repeal is a trojan horse designed to decimate the public sector so that private entities can swoop in and take over. If that happens, say goodbye to personal liberty and financial stability.

@BusyPoorDad @CincyShadow Yes.. as it’s already been established. Main driver of property tax increases is because of real estate speculators driving up the cost/perceived value of properties.

@KevP62 @CincyShadow 2/2 The property tax had increased from a bit over half a months income to a month and a change of income. They can afford to keep up the place, are older and have to hire people as well. But you heartless types would rather tax them out of their homes and deny they exist.

@BusyPoorDad @CincyShadow I don’t think you understand what words mean. You just reiterated my point that property tax goes up mainly due to real estate speculators. I can’t tell if you’re intentionally being ignorant to make a point, or if you have a mental issue.

@KevP62 @CincyShadow Property tax is based on other people’s guess at the value of the property This goes up with zero relation to the owners income Elderly and fixed income workers suffer because the higher the presumed value the more taxes paid. Which eats up the limited income Your plan is worse

@BusyPoorDad @CincyShadow That’s absolutely false. You’re just making stuff up 😂 We should switch to a land value tax since the main driver of rising property tax is b/c of real estate speculators. But instead we’ll blow things up and make this state even shittier to live in.

@KevP62 @CincyShadow And property tax’s are even more regressive often leading to elderly and low income losing their homes Sales tax is more fair as the person has some control over what they spend that some made up value of property by someone else

@BusyPoorDad @CincyShadow The tax burden will shift even more heavily on middle and low income people if property taxes are abolished. Tripling the sales tax is wildly regressive, but most people who support R’s just hear “lower taxes” and don’t think beyond that.

@CincyShadow There are other taxes that could be used to fund the government. Other taxes that are more fair and less of a burden on the low income and working people. But then you would have to care about the poors. A property owner has no control over what others assess the value at.

@CincyShadow Meanwhile, Democrats are responsible for some of the most egregious fraud we’ve seen in decades. Maybe if they weren’t so corrupt, the people would be willing to give them their hard earned money. As it is, Democrats give it to friends, family and foreigners.

@strong_side_24 @CincyShadow This paper doesn’t conclude that housing prices increased because females “demanded” larger homes. It also doesn’t support the theories of why valuations rose so exponentially in the past 15 years, since this paper is from 12 years ago. I’m not sure what you think you’re proving

This repeal is designed to centralize power, not benefit Ohioans. The revenue will have to be recouped somewhere else. Either via a sales tax increases to 15-20%, income tax increases to 11-15%, or shifting tax liability to utility companies, thus doubling your payments.

🚨 Ohio could become the FIRST state in America to abolish property taxes entirely. A grassroots group led by Brian Massie and Leonard Gilbert is collecting signatures for a constitutional amendment to eliminate all residential and commercial property taxes — and put it on the November ballot. What started as protecting seniors from being taxed out of their lifelong homes has exploded into a statewide movement after lawmakers refused to even meet with them. Massie says his own taxes jumped 40% in 10 years. Gilbert hears daily from seniors on fixed incomes watching their bills skyrocket. They need ~413,000+ valid signatures by July to qualify. (They’re aiming higher for a cushion.) Opponents warn it would blow a $24 billion hole in the state budget — threatening schools, police, fire, EMS, and rural services. Gov. DeWine floated raising the sales tax to 18-20% to fill the gap. Supporters fire back: Cut spending first. No new taxes. Lawmakers get a full year to reform before collections stop. This could be one of Ohio’s biggest ballot fights in decades. Would you vote to end property taxes? #Ohio #AbolishPropertyTaxes #AxOHTax #TaxReform #BallotInitiative

@strong_side_24 @CincyShadow Technology ≠ cheaper or more efficient use of $’s going toward education, it’s actually been an inverse relationship. So you’re saying b/c the woman entered the workforce, that meant people needed bigger houses? Your logic doesn’t make much sense.

Property taxes go up because property value goes up. It’s supply and demand. Homes in the 1950’s averaged 950 sq ft with 5 people inside where today’s homes average 2600 sq ft with 2.8 people inside. That’s due to demand over the last 4+ decades. As women entered the workforce and the household earned more money, they demanded larger homes. So builders met the demand. Ohio taxes 35% of appraisal value. I advocate for less government bureaucracy (25% of cost of home builds is compliance) to speed up the construction of new builds which increases supply, smaller builds, and eliminate waste and fraud spending. And Ohio schools haven’t rapidly improved. They actually stayed flat or dropped over the last 10 years. More money ≠ better education. Homeschooled students however score 15 to 25 percentage points higher than public school kids. Despite enrollment dropping 10% since mid-2000’s, the cost per pupil keeps rising. Why? Shouldn’t technology solve that issue? Yet there are more education workers today than 25 years ago. So we’re getting less quality for our tax dollar. Instead of asking “how do we replace the $24B in tax money?”, we should be asking “where the heck is our money going in the first place and how can we be more efficient?”

@strong_side_24 @CincyShadow Why are property taxes going up so rapidly? Is it because our schools (where bulk of tax $) go to have rapidly improved? Think about why property values are rising at an exponential rate and who’s behind that. The tax system is messed up but this is not the answer.

@CincyShadow I understand it perfectly. Just because someone doesn’t agree with you doesn’t mean they don’t understand lmao I’d rather spend money on a sales tax in a competitive free market and root out government corruption than have my property taxes keep doubling every 10 years.

@GOP_is_Gutless Tripling the sales tax would bring about a depression in this state. We don’t have the economic cushion to withstand a shock like that, but republicans can only see what’s right in front of them instead of thinking about long-term consequences.

It bears repeating: „LLMs are inherently probabilistic, not deterministic. They try to guess the answer that sounds best, not the objectively correct one. And that’s not a problem to be fixed. It’s fundamental to how these models work.“

Low IQ person just took a comment about banks, and thought it was about taxes... Property taxes are not needed for garbage and roads. Where I lived there was a bill for water sewer and refuse. What do you think the gas tax is for? Funny, you keep calling me stupid. I'm glad these retorts are public...
