@Nyanymaru @SFumoto This is based, VERY loosely, on the cooking wagons cowboys would use while traveling with cattle herds. They either had to quickly move ahead of the herd, then stop to cook, or cook in motion. In the modern sporting version, it's both. It's an intentional spectacle.

@gayguycandleco I remember both disasters. I think Challenger is getting more press now because of the launch, and the fact the fundamental problem from Challenger is still extant on SLS. On the return trip we'll hear more Columbia comparisons, especially considering the Orion heat shield.

There is, for good reason, a lot of discourse about Challenger tonight, but I have found that people often forget about the Columbia disaster. This is likely due to a variety of reasons, including the fact that it occurred while the country was at war in Afghanistan and just days away from invading Iraq, all while still reeling from 9/11. I was 8 when we lost Columbia. It is my Challenger. Remembering the crew tonight. Michael Anderson David Brown Kalpana Chawla Laurel Clark Rick Husband William McCool Ilan Ramon

@Okaisan1995 The popularity varies widely depending on generation and subculture. I have more than one, but look positively naked compared to some of my peers. I know some people remove ones they no longer care for or find embarrassing now, but mine mean too much to me to ever remove.

I have a question for people from the U.S., the U.K., and other countries. Are tattoos common in your country? Also, do people remove their tattoos as they get older?

EVs all being so high-tech is a grave tactical error. Not everyone is a techie who likes fancy software and big screens for everything. A cheap EV with actual physical controls & readouts for as many things as possible, and minimal touchscreen reliance, would sell like HOTCAKES.

@who_shot_jgr They did, but this is even more complex. The physical equipment and project size are still proportional (each larger than WWII), but the threats are vastly greater. 50mm knee mortars have been replaced by flying robot snipers guided in hidef video. It would be a bloodbath.

i know the seabees pulled off a lot of ridiculous construction stunts in WWII but i don't think they built a whole runway while under fire. and they had Boats! that could carry lots of Stuff!

i can only figure they presented this plan as a sort of demonstration of how impossible and ridiculous it would be to try and steal the uranium and trump was like "yeah sounds good"
John Hudson@John_Hudson

NEW: The high-risk plan to seize Iran’s uranium in a commando raid that would require building a runway in Iran and dropping in excavation equipment amid incoming fire, came at Trump’s request, signaling his interest in the complex operation

@combatmedic The American Car Guy term is 'patina' and in some groups it is highly valued as a sign of authentic history. I have my grandfather's truck and there are marks on it that tell a story from 50 years ago. We value history as much as the Japanese, only on a different scale.

@DrYumekuiBaku The irredeemable anti-nuclear power protesters will always find ways to blame man for whatever happens, but they are a tiny minority. Anyone who looks at what actually happens sees Fukushima as the best case response to an apocalyptic situation.
