Why do you care so much about depreciation when EVERYONE knows cars are depreciating assets? The difference between most EVs and ICEVs is minimal when you compare the fuel savings charging at home as well as the maintenance savings. As with any industry, there are always outliers, exceptions to the rule. Just because you can find one at a certain price to prove your point doesn't mean there aren't plenty of them that are a lower cost than that. I was looking at trading my Model Y for a newer one the other day. Carvana offered me $8K more than Tesla. Being an "expert" you should also know that private party sales go for THOUSANDS less than dealer sales. It wouldn't be that difficult to find an EV similar in price to an ICEV and enjoy the fuel and maintenance savings / headaches.

Most people still think operating an EV for 1/4th the cost and “$10 fill ups” are a hoax. Be sure to remind those people that it’s reality!

@old_guy_67 @TesCalendar1 So you're agreeing that EVs are a better deal for buyers then, and that you COULD save money based on lower prices? I saw a Model 3 earlier today for $13K. You'd make your money back pretty quick on that VS a used gas car.

@PlugLyfOfficial @TesCalendar1 It was a recent example. Tesla are no better when it comes to resale. The rate they lose value, youre underwater after you pay it off.

@TesCalendar1 @PlugLyfOfficial Cheaper actually. Had a guy come in with a 3k mile 2025 dodge Daytona. He was 45k upside down. To put that in perspective, the same ice model car would had been closer to 10k flipped

@old_guy_67 @TesCalendar1 With home charging, $0.11/kWh electricity, and $3.88 gas (current US average) it would take the average driver (38 miles per day, 24 MPG) about 39,000 miles to save $5,000 in fuel.

In the Midwest it's the equivalent of a ~33 MPG if you're charging on Tesla Superchargers (with current gas prices AND assuming you don't charge during off-peak hours, which are up to 30% cheaper). The average MPG of a car on the road in the US today is ~24 MPG. That's roughly a 30% improvement in fuel economy. If you're spending $300/mo in gas that saves you at least $90/mo. That's on *public* charging. On home charging, in my area, it's the equivalent of a 107+ MPG car at current gas prices.

These apps really need to get their act together. EVs have been around for over a decade, and some have outsold the Camry. You still can’t list one for sale without these goofy options. Why is zero cylinders even an option?

I’m tempted to buy super cheap summer tires just to see what they’re like. At half the price of the name brand stuff, would they be half as good? I’m a man of science.

So scary! A Tesla Cybertruck crashed into a concrete barrier while in self-driving mode on a Houston, Texas. The truck, without warning, tried to drive off an overpass, The driver tried to take control, but it crashed into the barrier.

Agreed, FSD isn't perfect, but it's MILES ahead of SuperCruise (and from what I'm reading pretty much any other system, at least here in the US) and is at least mostly trustworthy. I don't think I've had a single incident where it's put me in any actual danger in 12K+ miles of FSD drives. SuperCruise is constantly putting me in danger.

It’s the same flaw that affects all of these “pre-mapped” systems. It’s great until the mapping data is spotty or outdated. Then it gets erratic. In the part of Central AR I’m in, SC performs beautifully on most of the 40 mile drive from my house to Little Rock, but the second I get to LR it’s behavior seems to go all over the place. FSD 14 is definitely way better, but even it’s not perfect.

I will get a ton of blowback for what I am about to say, but here goes. I have let people use FSD on all of my Teslas since I first got it. Over all the years I have seen the same issue over and over again. When they are unfamiliar, they did not notice when it disengaged. The sound of disengagement is not very loud and can easily be missed, when inexperienced. I am not saying that Tesla was at fault, but it would be nice to have a default setting and clear voice and visual announcement, that FSD has been disengaged. Have said so in my live streams as well. Then there could be an advanced setting where you turn that "off" to basically what it is right now. It can be missed for beginners, as some touch the wheel or tap the brakes, not knowing that they actually disengaged. Again, I said what I said, but if you disagree, I ask you to let some none Tesla drivers drive your car.
Sawyer Merritt@SawyerMerritt

UPDATE: Elon Musk says the driver of this Cybertruck disengaged Autopilot four seconds before crashing, which means the driver was manually driving during this entire clip that Fox shared. Elon: "As anyone knows who uses it, that video is not how Autopilot drives."

It does, it just doesn't seem right without a noise. There probably is a setting, haven't bothered to look for it. Either way it's a terrible product that disengages CONSTANTLY in many highway areas unlike my experience with @Tesla_AI FSD. I don't trust it at all based on a few thousand miles of using it.

@PlugLyfOfficial @AndyZeGerman I wonder if there’s a setting buried 30 menus deep to have it to do both. I’ve seen both behaviors in various GM EVs. I do agree that any major disengagement should be very apparent. I want to say the Silverado RST flashes bright red “TAKE CONTROL NOW” on the HUD as well.

@PlugLyfOfficial @AndyZeGerman It shouldn’t be silent. In the last Silverado EV I drove it beeped and vibrated the seat on disengagement. That was a 2025 model though so maybe something has changed since then.

"...we can all agree they’re not ideal for remote or rural areas..." Why not? The infrastructure is already there, and has been for a century. Any house with electricity to it can charge an EV. You can't fill up a gas tank at home, but you can have a "full tank" in your EV every morning when you wake up. You could even do it "free" if you put solar panels on your remote / rural home. Can't do that with gas / diesel! "...fossil fuels account for 60% of the 🇺🇸 power grid..." Ok? Coal, the dirtiest fossil fuel used to generate electricity, generates less power in the 🇺🇸 than renewables, so we're already phasing out fossil fuels. On top of that, it is THREE TIMES cleaner to charge an EV with coal than it is to drive an archaic, inefficient combustion vehicle engine.

It’s never a good idea to lump a group of individuals into one specific 🪣. After-all human beings have different motives and do the most part are able to think independently. But ⚡️ 🚗 are not for everyone. Although they are great for city driving, we can all agree they’re not ideal for remote or rural areas. Furthermore, fossil fuels account for 60% of the 🇺🇸 power grid. Whereas wind and solar only contribute ~15%. But in order to continue growing economically, all energy sources will need to be unlocked.
