Some people are asking whether Scotland is really prepared to overlook two decades of sleaze, scandal and serial failure under successive SNP governments the broken promises on independence, the internal bloodletting and leadership coups, the high-profile police investigations into missing party funds, and the hundreds of millions of public money torched on vanity projects like the catastrophic ferry fiasco. And that’s before you even get to the warped, weird sexual scandals that have repeatedly engulfed the SNP: Alex Salmond’s tawdry sexual misconduct trial that dragged the party’s highest echelons through the courts, multiple harassment cover-ups, and a revolving door of sleazy allegations that made the whole operation look like a seedy private members’ club rather than a serious government. Now add the Green debacle. With the Scottish Greens the same ideologues who spent years blindly propping up the SNP no matter how rotten the corpse smelled suddenly climbing in the polls, voters face a sharper question: are Scots genuinely prepared to reward the exact same toxic ecosystem that gave us all this? These are the people who campaigned to shut down Scotland’s biggest industry, North Sea oil with their net-zero fanaticism, happy to consign thousands of skilled jobs and entire communities to the scrapheap while the lights flicker. The same Greens who rammed through puberty blockers for distressed children long after the Cass Review exposed the experimental horror show of irreversible damage, sterility and regret. The same Greens who championed “trans male rights” that flirted with lowering the age of consent and tearing up basic safeguarding for teenage girls and boys in schools, prisons and changing rooms. If Scotland chooses to forget the mismanagement, the wasted billions, the erosion of trust, the sexual scandals, the Green tail wagging the SNP dog, and the ideological madness that put experimental drugs on kids while killing oil jobs, then the consequences are entirely self-inflicted. Because if these same parties perform strongly, the Scotland that emerges will be exactly the one the voters asked for.
