My twitter feed is full of people saying cycle lanes are a waste of money, nobody uses them, we have the wrong kind of weather for cycling ... I don't really know why. But here are some facts.

@MarkBarry67 @MhairiHunter They've widened the pavement and narrowed the road in certain parts. Cyclists weave in and out of HGV's and buses. I see it every morning.

@kfullermusic @MhairiHunter It's only partially segregated, and no, roads are for cars. It's not the city centre, parents have to drop off kids to school before heading to work. Cyclists shouldn't be allowed on these roads, they're a danger to themselves and others.

@Rombodog @MhairiHunter The new segregated bike lanes aren't segregated? WTF? If you're worried about busses then remove car traffic from byres and have it bus only for most of the day. This is what most cities do for big shopping areas and they flourish.
