@RushdownX @amr_maadawy Relay connections in V were only used for connections where routing issues made P2P impossible. I don't think the relay server had any additional cheat detection, it was simply a proxy to make sure the two players could connect

@amr_maadawy Isn’t the reason for relay connections and not P2P ones cheating related though? Like that guy in V that modded the game had to force p2p to cheat online.

As a Network engineer, check out me breaking down a major issue with SF6 online on steam, where Capcom is forcing Relay Connection matches instead of P2P connections and how this will likely introduce a worse online experience for a ton of players.

So Capcom's story patch just made the relation to Tom and Alex a 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 bit more distant and 𝘴𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘭𝘺 toned down how much of a father/son they are. That's it. And this isn't even a universal change, only some languages got this. Amazing job Capcom, thank you.

@Small_Jag @XenoMarylin You can set any character to Japanese if you want. No native languages for non-Japanese/English characters, but I think this was before Tekken started doing that anyways

@XenoMarylin It’s one of my favorite crossover games too, but the Tekken cast having English dubs felt a little weird to me.

Street Fighter x Tekken will forever be my favorite crossover, especially for the interactions. That boy Ryu is way too excited to run a fade.

@mrjinjin2612 Don't kids have a much easier time learning things than adults though? The research for this is a bit of a slippery slope but generally, kids' brains are hardwired to be curious It's not that kids learn faster than adults, but they're mentally eager to learn stuff

@AryaTayebi @norowareta6ix That's my biggest problem with 6. It hasn't evolved like every single game before it has. There's a very real possibility that endgame SF6 will be the same as launch SF6 but with a bigger roster

@norowareta6ix I think it's the best of the modern Street Fighters. SF6 may yet usurp it but it's barely evolved since launch.

Some interesting Sega Dreamcast science I've been doing on the side recently... Here's a direct hardware capture of a tech demo of Bruce's aptly-named "Dreamcast Mesh Shit," featuring assets from... Uhhh... I don't even know where he jacked these from... 😂 ANYWAY, the main thing I've been working on is optimizing the skinning for the animations using my SH4ZAM fast math and linear algebra library, which can easily become one of the primary bottlenecks when running the late 6th generation games on the Dreamcast. My work has been mostly to allow the vast majority of the skinning math to occur in the SH4's XMTRX back-bank of floating-point registers, rather than having to round-trip to and from memory for every operation... Just shaved off a few hundred microseconds per mesh this way, with a lot more room to go. Once I have this stuff SOLID, I plan to bring it back to our DC port of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, where skinning was one of the major contributors to FPS dips.

Honestly, at this point this is just a totally different character. -Plays different -Different moves -Backstory is different -Has no passion for fighting, even though his entire arc in SF3 was about falling in love with fighting -Tom & Pat are now bad people Retcons galore

@Scotia834 @monopool_ The worst part is that they don't get why what they're copying was cool in the first place. SF6 has always felt like the "hello fellow kids" version of 3S, and I've never liked it

@monopool_ For real. I've gotten so much shit in the past by saying that modern Capcom loves just picking and choosing what aspects of SF3 they want to rip off and do worse. So much of SF6 is straight up copied from SF3 except for the stuff that matters (the characters and story).

Oh my god this is true the Japanese version of the Tom story COMPLETELY retcons Alex ever growing up with Tom and Patricia. The whole sibling side of Alex and Patricia's relationship is just gone now. I'm actually speechless, their SF3 backstory just got deleted like it's nothing
