Today, we are releasing new guidance to Federal agencies for establishing a National Initiative for American Space Nuclear Power, as called for by President Trump’s EO on Ensuring American Space Superiority. Nuclear power in space will give us the sustained electricity, heating, and propulsion essential to a permanent presence on the Moon, Mars, and beyond. whitehouse.gov/wp-content/upl…

NNSA has approved the Enhanced Fusion Yield Capability project, a move made possible by @SecretaryWright's streamlining of permitting regulations. This initiative will boost the laser energy at the National Ignition Facility, enabling more pertinent assessments and modernization efforts for the nation's nuclear weapons stockpile. energy.gov/nnsa/articles/…

And splashdown! America is back in the business of sending astronauts to the Moon and bringing them home safely. Reid, Victor, Christina, and Jeremy did an outstanding job. These talented astronauts inspired the world and represented their space agencies and nations as humanity’s ambassadors to the stars. This was a test mission, the first crewed flight of SLS and Orion, pushing farther into the unforgiving environment of space than ever before, and it carried real risk. They accepted that risk for all we stood to learn and for the exciting missions that follow, as we return to the lunar surface, build a Moon base, and prepare for what comes next. And they were not alone. The entire NASA workforce, our commercial and international partners, and the hopes and dreams of people all over the world were with them. The astronauts know it, and you should too. This mission would not have been possible without you. Congratulations. Artemis II, mission accomplished.

NNSA has successfully removed all high-risk cesium-137 from South Carolina, making it the 13th state to be free of this dangerous radioactive material. Retiring and removing cesium-based medical equipment is a big win for reducing Americans' risk and preventing this material from falling into the hands of adversaries. energy.gov/nnsa/articles/…

Tonight, President Trump delivered a strong message to the American people. His resolve to take action in Iran marks a decisive moment in history—one that previous leaders had deferred for far too long. For 47 years, Iran has been responsible for the deaths of American service members, threatened the global energy supply, and destabilized the region. President Trump recognized that the world could no longer allow this to continue. This period of short-term disruption to energy markets is temporary. Ultimately, the President’s decisive actions will lead to a more peaceful, prosperous, and securely energized world. We stand firmly with our exceptional military as they work to protect our nation.
