@SteveKornacki Lots of progressives spiked the football too early. This district is blue enough that she can win, especially with Trump in office, but a clear electoral penalty vs what we saw in Georgia and Wisconsin last week. You can in fact lose votes for being too left wing.

This will be yet another Democratic overperformance in a House special election - currently a net 10-point improvement vs. the '24 WH result in the district. But this is likely to be the smallest. Previously, the range of overperformance has been between 13 (TN-7) and 25 (GA-14) points. In particular tonight, there have been clear pockets of resistance to Mejia in Livingston and Millburn, two large typically Democratic towns with large Jewish populations that may be uncomfortable with Mejia's left wing politics, particularly on Israel.
