Settlers for hundreds of years convinced eachother that many of the eden-like forests of North and South America simply grew That Way ™️ on their own. Turns out agriculture in the Americas was simply unrecognizable to a fundamentally incurious people.

Lots of people's social & romantic lives could be vastly improved if it was normal for young adults to live in college dorm-style accommodation in city centres until they were ready to set up home properly. Why doesn't this exist? I think there would be a market for it!

@RedHotFuzz @myth_pilot You interpreted the op as having some meaning far beyond what the text itself supports Op never says he wants it to make a shopping list, you unilaterally decided that is what his true want is You’re too invested in the ‘it’s all abt outcomes’ lie It’s the process, always

It’s unbelievable to me that in March 2026 you still can’t pick up your iPhone and say “Hey Siri note down this shopping list” and then have Siri just take your dictation and save it to a note. Like what are we even doing here?

@robprogressive You can have a credit card which usually requires 2 stage authentication to be used, so if it’s stolen then it can’t be used and even without authentication can easily be blocked, or you can have cash which is untraceable if it’s stolen. Which of these options best protects you?

If you give a £50 note to a butcher, who then buys from the baker, who then buys from the candlestick maker, it’s worth £50 to each of them, and after 50 transactions it’s still worth £50 If you pay by card, the bank takes 1.5%, 3% or even 5%. The butcher, baker and candlestick maker all have to pay the bank for the privilege of transacting, and by 50 transactions… The bank has the whole £50 in fees. This is the real reason they want a cashless society. Cash is freedom, but it’s also trillions the banks can NOT take from you

@myth_pilot Set up a shopping list in Reminders that stays there perpetually. “Siri, add milk and eggs to my shopping list.” Done. Now you have an actual task-style list where you can check off items as you get them. Easy.

@escomomellaman @UnamunoAgain Everyone has to face who they are eventually, whether by choice or by death. Their consequences may not be seen by us, but they will be seen by them. You don't get out of this life until that happens.

Jodie Foster dijo una vez: "No, amigos. No sean tan inocentes. A los que hacen cosas malas no siempre les va mal. A muchos les va a ir bien. Los vas a ver triunfar. Los vas a ver quedarse con la mejor parte de todo. Y ese es el mundo real. Pero si esto les sirve de consuelo, puedo decirles que he visto muchos malvados exitosos... pero nunca en paz."

@shuna74 @UnamunoAgain No, actions are not “right or wrong depending how you look at it” Looking at actions wrongly doesn’t make those action right Everyone has done bad things, all of you Not a single one of you is wholly good Truly not even one By thine own measure will thine witness measure thee

Dualidad.

i'm not saying they should've raised her to become a political mastermind at age of 10, but they should've taught her to be less naive. arya was younger than her and was smart enough to understand she should mistrust the lannisters and keep her mouth shut about ned's plans
mise@maecaeron

she was 11, pretty sure margaery was memorizing names and sigils as a eleven year old too - to play politics you gotta know the names. and robb was incredibly naive too, maybe it has to do with the fact that they weren't raised by olenna tyrell

@zakkohane @harvardmed Low supply of specialty surgeons is incredibly simple to solve All you have to do is significantly reduce the number of patients needing those surgeries The easiest ways to do that is just let existing patients & stop diagnosing so many future cases

Fantastic piece of cultural reporting by Robert Mariani in @tnajournal. He writes abt "Diner Gothic" as an emerging culture among downwardly mobile American young people. Really fascinating, and explains what I see when I go to Walmart back home visiting. thenewatlantis.com/publications/a…

@Magnuseisenhard @ColoRocko @roddreher @tnajournal Interesting position 🤔 You argument claims children do/don’t do Y/-Y because parents did/didn’t foster X/-X traits in them But isn’t all blame really with the parents own parents who didn’t foster the trait of trait-fostering into their own children ?

@SpookyMoo The way I know I am most likely being shown a vision from "spirit" is when what I'm shown is not something I already know, or even WANT to see. Also, it's not info for someone else... It's for me. If I see something about someone else, I'm not inclined to tell them what I saw.

Have you ever experienced seeing black eyes? I have, more times than I would like to admit..many times in mediums who were sitting in trance/channeling and also in people with questionable spiritual hygiene, ie narcissistic rage. If you begin anything with 'my spirit team/collective/guide etc' told me to tell you this, that and the other, you are immediately relinquishing responsibility & spiritual bypassing.. it's a slippery slope. I've witnessed it first hand with so many. It can easily go 'wonky' fast, especially in physical mediumship. I'm confident that a large percentage of what gets channelled is influenced & or embellished by the individuals ideals and ego so reliable info is exceptionally rare. Most mediums will never be honest about this as it’s far more comfortable to live in denial and in a state of obsession rather than face the truth. Mediums with black eyes, are the ones who are possessed. They have sold off access to their ‘crytopgraphic key’, deluded by their self importance, ‘in love’ with that feeling, by ‘HOLDING ON’ to a spirit guide and never fully challenging that working partnership and taking it as verbatim that their communicator is a loving spirit/entity. Often the medium will create a personality for their guide all by themselves..these are thought forms. But this isn’t always the case..information can come from ‘elsewhere’, Ingo Swann described us as being an over endowed species that has been victimised consistently by the social surroundings that we are born in to. Don’t you think that it’s amazing that the majority of people are not even using 99% of what they are naturally endowed with to satisfy a materialistic world that wants us to think that we are nothing more than a physical body? Ingo Swann also repeatedly said that our scientific model is broken. I along with others believe that we can now rectify this model with that of the superfluid of low energy, relic neutrinos. It’s such a huge shame that the BICS institute used so many of their resources and influence on mediumship and NOT psi/ESP. Did the ‘afterlife’ fail humanity or did humanity do that all by themselves? x.com/spookymoo/stat…

@Joshua_Skootsky @agraybee Maybe reality in a fantasy world where a plurality of gods are real and magical beings and magic itself are real would see long (to us) periods where human technology stagnated 🤷🏼‍♂️ Not hard to imagine at all really unless you’re a profoundly unimaginative dumbfuck idiot

This is a persistent problem in fantasy. The main character of Gormenghast is the 77th earl of the titular castle. That's like the Julii still being a rich and powerful family today.

My longtime family doc in Nov: Exciting news! I am moving to concierge medicine! For an annual fee of $5,000 I can remain your primary care physician. (Sick visits extra.) My longtime family doc in March: So… I still have a few open spots, in case you want one.
