@citrinowicz This is clearly a strategic defeat for the U.S. and Israel though not a clear strategic victory for Iran. It was a swing and a miss by the Zioamerican axis but we'll be back here again in a few months or years.

The war isn’t over but the picture that’s emerging is already deeply troubling. Based on the NYT piece its obvious that this war was launched with sweeping promises: regime change in Iran, the dismantling of its missile and nuclear programs, and preventing it from threatening the Strait of Hormuz. And where are we now? The regime is still firmly in power. Its missile capabilities are damaged still intact It still holds roughly 440 kg of uranium enriched to 60%. And in return? A ‘controlled’ reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, something that wasn’t even truly closed to begin with. Let’s be honest: this is not a strategic victory. If these are the outlines of the endgame, alongside Iranian demands for compensation and guarantees against renewed fighting, then we are left with a hard, unavoidable question: What, exactly, was the point of this war? Because tactical successes and operational achievements are almost meaningless if they fail to deliver a coherent strategic outcome. At the very least, one has to hope that the negotiations in Islamabad will produce a different outcome on the nuclear issue. Otherwise, we risk emerging from this war worse off than when it began. Because if the end state leaves Iran’s nuclear capabilities fundamentally intact, then the strategic reality after the war will not just fall short of expectations, it will be unequivocally worse than at the outset. #IranWar

How the Middle-East conflict moved from from regime change in Iran to reopening Strait of Hormuz that was actually open before the war started!

One thing isn't mentioned in their conditions: Gaza and the Palestinians. Nevertheless, keep telling me how everything this regime does is “for Palestine.”

The US has accepted the Iranian ten points as a basis for talks. Which is somewhat surprising. Here are the points: 1) Security Guarantees: A binding guarantee that Iran will not be attacked again in the future. 2) Permanent Peace: A transition to a permanent end to the war, rather than a series of temporary ceasefires. 3) End to Strikes in Lebanon: An immediate halt to Israeli military operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon. 4) Sanctions Relief: The lifting of all U.S. and international sanctions imposed on Iran. 5) Cessation of Regional Hostilities: A broader agreement to end all regional fighting against Iranian allies. 6) Opening the Strait of Hormuz: In exchange for the above, Iran agrees to lift its de facto blockade and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. 7) Transit Fees: The introduction of a protocol for safe passage that includes a $2 million fee per ship transiting the waterway. 8) Revenue Sharing: Iran proposes splitting these transit fees with Oman, which sits across the strait. 9) Reconstruction Funding: Iran will use its share of the fees to rebuild infrastructure destroyed by U.S. and Israeli strikes, rather than demanding direct financial reparations. 10) Nuclear Enrichment Rights: Recognition of Iran's right to enrich uranium under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). While this does not mean that Trump has accepted these points, just agreeing to talk about it is a MAJOR victory for Iran. Notice Iran removed their demand for America to remove its bases. The most encouraging thing here is the possibility of moving towards a permanent peace. A real blow for Israel, that is for sure.

The state of the "anti-war" movement in the West: At the "Iran solidarity" rally, you're not allowed to wave Iranian flags, and you have to chant "No war on Iran" and "No US imperialism" but also "No to Islamic Republic," the force actually resisting the war and US imperialism.

Israel's imports of Azeri oil via Turkey hit a three-year high, despite Turkey's supposed trade ban on Israel. It's abundantly clear that the tension between Turkey and Israel is theatrical.

Opinion: Continuing to label Turkey as a reliable NATO ally is dangerous, as Ankara’s ambitions erode the very alliance structures that have long sustained Western security. jpost.com/opinion/articl…

I’m very curious to see where the floor ends up on this. The final holdouts on viewing Israel favorably are Jews & white evangelicals, which feel like very tough nuts to crack. Though I could see every other religious group & the religiously unaffiliated dropping even further.

@History__Speaks I think a really important point strategically is what KSA and the UAE will do in the aftermath of this. I think we underestimate the UAE's ambition. They will try to destroy Iran. They may try to buy a nuke as a deterrent. They're as crazy and genocidal as the Israelis

From a strategic perspective, I think it's too early to tell what this means. Three important factors: 1) Whether Iran retains military control over the Strait (even if it allows passage); 2) Whether the US negotiates in good faith to end the war; 3) Whether the US genuinely tries to accommodate Iran on some or all of the 10 points in its proposal, which Trump indicated he would, although he lies constantly.

hi fam. apologies for taking up space for something personal. zios are attacking me, suggesting that I faked a threatening letter because the screenshot looked like an unsent form. so I made a longer video to show the backend of my website where these letters go. I frankly just discovered them (so apologies also to those who wrote and didn't hear back from me). while I'm here, if you come across any of these attacks, I'd be grateful if you could please link them in the comments because I'm thinking of suing a few high profile folks if they don't remove their libelous posts.

@academic_la The Israelis will agree to whatever and then renege when it suits them m as will the U.S. Also, I have no doubt that the Emiratis will do everything in their power to destroy the Iranians and make sure this never happens again. I would even bet they buy a nuke or two.

For what it's worth, I think America should cancel its alliance with Israel, which is obviously a bad and unhelpful ally. But unlike leftists and rightists, I don't actually think canceling it will fix any of our fundamental problems, or help people in Gaza.
