I did not expect this to blow up the way it did. I knew people read things on this app in bad faith but wow. 1) It's like I never said "we will still consider helping you", a lot read it as if I said "screw you, we will not help you". We have helped non members with needs. 2) A lot of those who say churches should be taxed show they don't understand that would mean a lot of non-profit organizations like homeless shelters, food pantries, etc... would be affected as a lot of them rely on donations from the churches, not mention you are just double taxing individuals for the mere fact of them attending church as people are voluntary giving their money that has already been taxed to churches. 3) Yes, Christians believe those they have made vows in as members of a church have a mutual responsibility to care for both spiritually and materially, and hold another accountable will take precedence over those outside, it may sound crazy to you but just like your family will be more important to you than a stranger it's the same as in the Church (but all are welcome to no longer be strangers with us and most importantly God) 4) God will judge churches how they steward the wealth and gifts He's granted them, and many do use it as means to take care of those outside either directly or indirectly via organizations. Believe it or not a lot of us look at some of the ways churches invest money and it's very poorly done, I'm just very careful to judge churches off one call because I don't know all the details or procedures of that church, and understand the skepticism of a random call. 6) God will not just judge churches how they steward their money but each of us will also be judged, are we wasting it on frivolous pursuits, vanities and other sinful passions, or are we using it to expand His kingdom? If the former there is forgiveness in Christ, believe on Him and you can be forgiven.

You can't fix this with tax subsidies and municipal incentives. New York State must use its powers to finance, plan, rezone and build permanently + deeply affordable housing. We can do that with the Social Housing Development Authority.

The bicycle was invented in the mid-1800s. In the subsequent 175 years, humanity has found more efficient alternatives to transport people in terms of both speed, efficiency, and convenience. Redesigning streets to disproportionately accommodate a solution that has already been summarily rejected by the masses and praying for some induced demand is not a way to run a transportation department nor city in the 21st century.

Last night, I discovered my 10-year-old has been washing his hair with a bar of soap for six months. I had to explain that you only wash your hair with shampoo. He’s only 10. He’s a child. There is a lot about life that he doesn’t understand. It made me think about how utterly insane it is that anyone believes a 10-year-old is capable of making lifelong decisions that impact their fertility and sexuality. It made me think of how insane it is that medical professionals and organizations endorse giving children experimental treatments that stop necessary, healthy puberty and put kids on the path to becoming lifelong medical patients, based of a the feelings of confused 10-year-olds. Children are children. They cannot consent to sex reassignment services. It’s madness.
