@keigaan63 @acheronix That's a difficult question to answer. Do you want to risk being obsessed from something tickling your optimization reflex?

Learning from my kids' book that sharks can sense electricity. In total darkness, they can see your heart beat. We can "see" light waves, "smell" chemicals, and "hear" air vibrations. Some animals can detect the Earth's magnetic field or see polarization. What else could exist?

@acheronix This is the first time I've played with "cloud storage," daisy chained power, and blueprints. I previously found the game unplayable without those tools. The blue prints aren't perfect, but they're a lot better than they were. Factorio is still what I compare everything to.

@RandomSprint I do really love how factorio teaches the user to intuitively "compartmentalize" once they start getting to more complex designs, you can reuse old stuff and hook it together if you designed it right.

lots of pessimism these days, but a bright spot in the saga of human progress is that we effectively cured ligma over the last 5 years

Reading to my kids and it's a standard sci-fi setup: humans discover a non-human intelligence that writes in symbolic language. First contact. biggest event in history. Then it takes a bizarre turn where everyone just fixates on the pig it wrote about

@feraljokes I'm sorry you're so disconnected from the basic experiences of humanity that you can't even hear about a husband and his pregnant wife without imagining sexual abuse.

Played this game called "Mario." I didn't get it. You start as a tiny man then you eat a mushroom and double in size. And then you just stay big until it's over? And the remaining mushrooms do nothing? Very confusing.

I don't get why we would capture carbon from the atmosphere when higher concentration streams exist. Maybe you pick the highest fruit from the tree after the lowest fruit and if you get really good at picking fruit, but why not start at a boiler's exhaust?
