@romanhelmetguy Look at this charlatan translating The Odyssey for this own personal political advancement. I speak Ancient Greek fluently, and the opening line should be translated as “Tell me about a complicated man…”

I’ve completed the opening lines of the Chudyssey. I’ll provide a detailed breakdown of my choices below.

@friendsixseven It means in terms of sex linked characteristics in the brain trans women on average have more feminine sex linked characteristics compared to cis men. And this is before hrt. But it doesn’t mean much other then on average trans girls have slightly more feminine brains

@slattemar @cljack Agreed. I would never join “battery of not being a little bitch. Fuck you. You’re about to die for literally nothing” I would make a heroic last stand to protect my family, country and loved ones - and I wouldn’t mind if we were named something cool like “battery of the damned”

@cljack Men are as complex as women. We’re just more straightforward. Women mistake this for simplicity. But there’s an entire universe of unspoken rules you don’t see.

before you waste a lot of time in therapy trying to understand men, consider that Napoleon got volunteers to man a battery position with an almost 100% casualty rate by simply renaming it "the battery of not being a little bitch"

@QuasLacrimas That’s the thing about a lack of transparency. It breeds conspiracy. Unless and until all relevant records concern the event are released, you can reasonably believe these statements. It is indiscernible if these are true facts taken from eye witnesses, or the ravings of mad men

I'm not denying mutilations occurred (or the other rumor that is illegal to repeat in the EU), because the French government has covered up or downplayed atrocities committed by its pets before. But if you believe this, you should have a clear picture of the timeline: 9:50-10:00pm: approximately 10 minutes of disciplined shooting (2 firing, 1 providing covering fire during reloading) by 3 Muslim gunmen into the crowd in the Bataclan auditorium 9:57-10:15pm: police enter the auditorium and start firing on the Muslims, killing one and forcing the other 2 to retreat deeper into the building with hostages after exchanging fire 10:15-11:30pm: 2 Muslims have control of (~20?) hostages inside the building while French SWAT-equivalents take up positions outside the building 11:30pm-12:20am: French SWAT-equivalent secures the auditorium and enters the rest of the building, begins a phone negotiation with the two gunmen before finally assaulting their position in some kind of rear hallway/stairway. If mutilations occurred, you have to believe one of the following: (a) In addition to the 3 gunmen responsible for the disciplined, systematic massacre during the first 10-15 minutes, there were other terrorists involved attacking concert-goers with knives while their coreligionists kept them immobilized with gunfire, who then managed to escape the Bataclan as SWAT arrived, were never caught in the subsequent state of emergency raids, and the French state has intentionally covered up this failure. (b) The 2 surviving gunmen stopped to mutilate people they had already killed after their colleague was shot, before retreating out of the auditorium. This would have had to happen during a very short window (a few minutes?), (c) The 2 surviving gunmen mutilated hostages who survived the event, or killed and mutilated hostages whose very existence the French state denies (officially, all hostages survived) during their 75-minute siege inside the building, and this has been successfully covered up, or (d), I suppose you could think the entire publicly released timeline is all a fabrication to begin with. I think most people would accept that the economical conclusion from this timeline would be that there were probably no mutilations, or very few (i.e., not precluding quickly slashing or gouging 1 or 2 victims in disappointment), the rumors to the contrary are probably just (mostly*) baseless rumors, and that if you believe they *are* true, that also commits you to an additional and even stranger coverup: a coverup of the missing extra terrorists if the mutilations occurred in the first 10-15 minutes, or a coverup of dead hostages if they occurred during the 75-minute standoff. That said, there is another weird controversy about the Bataclan shooting that I don't even want to mention because the French court system pursues anyone who raises it. So while I think the conspiracy theories are improbable, I can't say I expect to convince everyone.
Flesh Simulator@fleshsimulator

When you say "killed 129", it kind of undersells the fact that they cut the fetuses out of pregnant women, gouged out eyeballs, castrated men, and raped women with knives This info was kept out of the media, instead focusing on the bombings that occurred. It was also kept out of the media that the terrorists had arrived through the asylum system, which had such little oversight that it somehow didn't catch a cluster of known ISIS fighters entering the country

@ForgetfulThink1 @HabCorpLinguist I know what confirmation bias is. He's a lawyer. He makes arguments that align with his opinion. Two parties take opposing sides. They both present their strongest evidence to make an argument. A judge then weighs the evidence/arguments to make a decision.

@JimDMiller no but seriously there's already a petition set up to go to Smith and it's already got over 2500 signatures in less than 15 minute and all your quotes on it. i'd try to find out where that's going if I was you.

I must confess, I once copied a citation without checking it. It was in my dissertation. It was a book of cylinder seals published in 1940. It was during Covid, libraries were closed, the book wasn't available electronically, you couldn't buy it, and no one I knew had a scan.

If you are working on a topic where there are 500+ papers/books relevant to your topic, it is very likely you would need years to read all of these pieces, so trusting what our peers say about them (in other published work) has been standard practice before AI.
