Here in Atlanta, where pedestrian deaths are at crisis levels, just 10% of our streets account for more than 50% of all our pedestrian fatalities. One solution is clear: Safer street design saves lives. (2 of 3)

“The suburbanization of poverty…has meant that more lower-income Americans… have moved to communities built around the deadliest kinds of roads: those with multiple lanes and higher speed limits but few crosswalks or sidewalks.” @nytimes (1 of 3) tinyurl.com/bdh9sbkh

The scary thing is these are conditions a few blocks away from 2 schools & this is how much space drivers claim when there are no PBLs. We should center protected space especially around the travel of kids @ATLDOT @apsupdate @AmirForATL

There is no one single solution to Atlanta’s traffic woes. Rather, a combination of high-quality, accessible, equitable transit, bike lanes, and safe streets will help to make our city an easier place to get around—and a better place to live for all. tinyurl.com/bddxm7ej

I covered FOUR extended RED ALERTS - complete interstate closures - overnight Saturday and the @WSBTraffic Team and I covered a serious of major messes last Wed. PM. This is all more proof we need more ways around our fair town. Latest for @wsbradio & @ajc wsbradio.com/news/local/gri…

Pedestrian safety is a choice we can make. Let’s transform our streets, #Atlanta, into spaces that are safe for everyone, not just for those behind the wheel. (3 of 3) atlvisionzero.com

These deaths are not inevitable “accidents.” We can stop them by fixing the dangerous street design causing disproportionate car-crash deaths on just ten percent of Atlanta streets. These streets are often located in communities of color. (2 of 3) letspropelatl.org/abolish-hin

“Pedestrian deaths are the highest they’ve been in four decades” and Atlanta’s communities of color are the most impacted. This epidemic is fixable. (1 of 3) 11alive.com/video/news/loc…

Hey @MARTAservice where's the 10:30 pm route 24 bus from Edgewood? It's not here, not on the real-time bus, and didn't see an alert.

Just signed this petition created by Quanisha Ball's mother. Quanisha was killed trying to cross 7-lane Scott Blvd. "Add laws to protect pedestrians. We can make a difference!" #Justice4Quanisha chng.it/fSgx6wgs via @Change

Had a close call recently while crossing Atlanta's deadliest street (Mom, please don't watch this video) It shook me up and reminded me (as if I needed another reminder) how far we have to go, despite the progress we've made. This work is personal to me as it is to many of you.
