Today we hugged Chris for the last time and said goodbye as he went to give four people the gift of life by donating his kidneys, liver and lungs. We are deeply broken and deeply proud. In life and in death, Chris never stopped giving. We walk forward with his light guiding us.

@ValentinaESL A guidance counselor once told me University wasn't for me and I should pick up a trade. What an insult to Tradespeople - I'm nowhere near that talented. I didn't listen to her, and I often wonder how many people's lives she hurt with her words. #CEO

When my daughter was in junior high, we had a meeting with the school counselor because she was struggling academically. I’ll never forget what the counselor told me because it hurt my mama’s heart. She told me that college wasn’t in my daughter’s best interest. She wanted us to lower the bar. But you see, as the expert in this child, I knew she was capable and gifted. I knew she could do anything she set her mind to do. It may not have happened in the time span typically given but it happened nonetheless. I’m so proud of her determination and perseverance. Instead of lowering expectations, support children, believe in them, show them that they can do nearly anything they set their minds on doing.

Shortly after being dx w/stage IV cancer, I had a breakdown not knowing if I’d make it to 30. After finally pulling it back together I declared to my husband, “I’m going to make it to 40. We’re going to figure this out. I’m going to live.” Today I turn 32. We’re on our way folks

@BettyBrigade I just happened to do this yesterday. A day full of doing nothing but what I wanted - time to refuel so I can bring my best self to everything I do. And you know what? It feels great AND the world went on without me. Imagine that!

Super cool to see the staff at @graceLDNONT fully masked today when the restaurant wasn’t even open yet. Paid a visit to the cafe next door specifically because everyone was masked. It’s only been a couple days, but any other #ldnont business with high rates of mask wearing?
