Men, I cannot plead with you enough to stand against the normalizing of this kind of behavior. If someone is sexually aroused by a little girl in a mini-skirt, this is a deviant proclivity and should never be normalized...
Sheila Gregoire--She Deserves Better is here!@sheilagregoire

Little girls in mini-skirts in church parking lots? Here's Josh Howerton, telling the men in their congregations that if they see such a little girl, "run, Forrest, run--you are no match for that enemy." Because apparently little girls are tempting. And they're your enemy.

@BenDRudolph @R_Denhollander Do you see where those attacks are caused by a woman’s clothing or by a man’s immaturity? (Note they are called youthful lusts on the part of the luster not impropriety on the part of the lustee)

@sheilagregoire @R_Denhollander getting some strong witch-hunt vibes from you ladies a) what part of "And" in my OP to Rachel do you not understand? b) you said "CHILD". Josh did not. You are the one reading some kind of prebubescent pedophilia into this c) nor did he said the girl herself was the enemy

A short excerpt from the chapter on "The Myth of Failure to Protect" from my soon to be released book "Stop Blaming Mothers and Ignoring Fathers: How to transform the way we keep children safe from domestic violence" "Failure-to-protect culture ignores the role that systems play in creating ongoing danger for children. Instead, it makes the survivor the sole person responsible. She’s not only expected to overcome the perpetrator’s actions but also the failures, limitations, and missteps of systems." A system that fails to protect our children from abusers - simply bc there is an assumption that children need 2 parents - is a system that is archaic & broken. Children thrive with one protective parent & do not need to love or spend time w an abuser. It’s twisted to assume so.

Atefeh, a mere 36, stood as a valiant voice in Iran’s #WomanLifeFreedom movement. Nightly, she boldly cried “Death to Khamenei” from her balcony. Tragically, the Islamic regime’s agents snatched her away, subjected her to brutal torture, and took her life. Her body was ruthlessly returned to her balcony, staged with a gas hose in a horrific attempt to fabricate a suicide. This heinous act exemplifies the regime’s deep-seated hatred towards women, their freedom, their hair, their dance, and their song. This is the cruel reality under a barbaric regime.

This is the kind of accountability we need. A system where judges can make horrific judgements with no consequence for themselves - will only breed more horrific decisions that devastates children and families. Judicial immunity produces a culture of impunity.

In May 2020, a Cleveland, Ohio judge ordered two teenage boys to a weekend in a juvenile detention center for refusing to go with their allegedly abusive father. That judge now faces the Ohio Board of Professional Conduct and may see sanctions including losing the seat he has...

Our keynote speaker @bindelj this morning connecting the dots between prostitution, male violence and misogyny and the false equivalencies being peddled to make it palatable. “If sex work is work, then surely rape is theft?” - Julie Bindel, #ICCC2023

'We implicitly believe that men have the right to a certain amount of violence. Our laws may pretend that we don’t, but the application of these laws demonstrate we do. It is within this environment that the idea of “parental alienation” has thrived.' themovementofmothers.org/2023/11/03/hig…

Too often the justice system enables the abuser & fails to protect victims of violence & coercive control. Professor Amy Bonomi and prosecutor David Martin will report on how this happens & their work to reform for stronger accountability and better protections for victims.
