More words =/= better stories. This isn’t even me being some defensive writer, I’m a wordy writer, as anyone who has read my stuff will know. A game could say way less and tell a story that’s much better than a game that says more overall. Books are especially are more focused with their plots and characters. If people wrote books as how a game plays out that would be God awful.

Ok let’s explore the “She Rejected Me Because I’m Nice” myth. This is Janine, you work with her. She’s fine: a solid fine. Not unbelievably pretty, not hideous, just fine. Could easily work at any Walmart. Janine is nice to you. You’re nice to Janine, because you have no reason not to be. Why would you be horrible? You joke around, make small talk at the office printer. You don’t fancy her and it never crossed your mind. One day, Janine asks if you want to get coffee at lunch. You say yes, because she’s never shown any romantic interest in you and it’s not that kind of bond. At the cafe, Janine looks at you and strokes your hand and goes “I really see this going somewhere, like forever.” You aren’t feeling it. She gets upset and accuses you of only liking bad girls. Have you rejected Janine because she’s “too nice?”

@Aaryandel @HMBohemond There are more individual people fighting the good fight. (Grant, Hammer (and the 99 Demon acadtle War soldiers), the Morrisons, Parts of the Order of Ecclesia, Maria ect). I agree that the show went a bit hard on the church evil angle.

@HMBohemond The statement about Shankar blowing things out of proportion for personal agendas is 200% correct though. And despite it's own wrongdoings and poor judgment from time to time, the Church and the Belmont Clan and company, are objectively the only force of good fighting Chaos.

The Catholic Church are unironically the good guys of Castlevania and Dracula is just evil, with God being an objective force for good. The Church being the real bad guys and Dracula being misunderstood is a fabrication of the cartoon show because Adi Shankar hates Christianity.

@Critical_Scribe NIKKE is not for everyone. I appreciate the mindset of letting anyone enjoy something, but that doesn't mean that its "for everyone". There have already been instances of people attacking it for fanservice or lack of "female player" representation.

You know, every time I see a push for game to be “for everyone” it very quickly does not become for everyone and the original people enjoying the thing are gatekept out of the thing they made popular in the first place. I get it, you want the thing you like to be popular, but that does not mean you have to capitulate to everyone’s desires for it. That is quickly how a game starts to lose its identity once this new fanbase starts to exert their influence, because they will, they never stay silent and accept the premise as it was. A game can be for anyone that is going to enjoy it for what it is as it was originally intended. That most certainly will not be “for everyone” because everyone has different tastes. If you accept the hobby, come on in. If you try to change it, stay out. It’s pretty simple.

Only two arcs ago, Usopp fought directly against not one but two of the Tobbi Roppo, and he provided vital assists in the fights against all of the other Tobbi Roppo, and even against one of the Commanders. If that wasn't enough, he didn't stop there. He went on to stand alone against a horde of enemies and was responsible for saving the lives of two of Wano's most important figures. "He's done nothing." Is such a nonsense argument.

Hardly anything is correct on the first try, so keep updating progress and fix stuff as it comes up. Easy.

“Toxic casuals” in the gaming community who not only reject, but advocate for the removal of skill gaps in games have done more damage to gaming than any “try hard” ever has. Gaming casually is perfectly fine, but losing to those who take the time to learn, embrace, and master the mechanics of a game should be expected and accepted if you do play more casually.

@Critical_Scribe Depends on what it is. If it's something like regular breakdowns that makes life with that person hard, it should be considered that just "waiting it out" is a selfish demand. Living with other people means accepting that your problems never are truly just yours.

There are legitimately people who do get angrier and more depressed when forced to talk about their problems. The best you can give them is a gesture to let them know that you’re there for them and give them some time to relax.

@jadel4w No, less info for players is always bad. Dedicated small communities care less about numbers. However, it is an excellent tool to bust publishers narratives about how everything is a "great success". Feels like people wanna hide behind intransparency.

Steam player count being visible is doing irreparable and unessesary damage to a lot of games.

@Critical_Scribe Yeah, I prefer the manga too. One Piece takes great advantage of being drawn (allowing unrestrained use of fantastical elements). As the story goes on, we'll see more and more cuts to those parts. Don't even ask me how something like G2 can be done in a convincing manner.

@_random_silence That’s a fair view to have. I just happen to like early One Piece a lot for its pacing and intent so it’s probably my own bias doing the heavy lifting here.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t Luffy decisively beat Wapol’s ass everytime they fight by himself in the manga? Like, it’s zero contest. Not sure if I enjoy the constant depowering of Luffy in this adaptation since he’s a force of nature for a while in the manga. That’s what makes his eventual complete loss (which should appear this season) so impactful. This is reminding me of that change they made to Usopp’s arc in season 1 where they got rid of his heroic stand with the Straw Hats on the hill in favor for some hide and seek chase in the mansion. If they kept it to the original, it would have those same beats to make the highs feel much more satisfying in the end. This is my personal issue with the LA. I don’t so much mind the whimsy and camp (we really need more of it to balance out the cynicism, tbh) it’s all these unnecessary changes to what is really solid storytelling in the manga in favor of lesser ones for reasons that don’t appear to be clear to me. I’m glad people enjoy One Piece, but if all they’re getting is the LA then I gotta say, they’re getting the worse version of the story overall.

And that's a different audience, far from "oh this looks fun, let's try" which was things like the Wii era. Rockband is another great example. Just different audiences in general.
