I am deeply concerned by the @scott_mills story, following his sacking by @BBC. Mills was allegedly investigated by the Metropolitan Police, with a file handed to the CPS who decided there was insufficient evidence to prosecute. If an individual can be investigated, cleared of prosecution due to insufficient evidence, & still face professional ruin, then we are entering dangerous territory. Institutions must be very careful not to substitute due process with reputational expediency. Justice cannot operate on suspicion alone, nor can fairness be preserved if allegations—untested in a court of law—are treated as proof. We must ask ourselves: are we upholding justice, or quietly dismantling it?

@ConstableChaos I rang them last year. I got to question 4 in their list before the call handler said I’m sending an ambulance. That saved my life. I was admitted and 24hours later my gallbladder exploded quite spectacularly!

I’ve defended extremely drunk and high people who have been in crashes and they do not generally climb safely from crashed vehicles and make phone calls.

Lt Gen Anna-Lee Reilly telling the Public Accounts Committee that 33 soldiers getting ill — vomiting, shaking, headaches — on Ajax during Exercise Titan Storm was simply because troops “didn’t operate or maintain it properly” is disgraceful. This is the same Ajax programme that’s eight years late, billions over budget, repeatedly paused for excessive noise and whole-body vibration causing crew harm since at least 2018. Initial Operating Capability was declared in November 2025, only for training to be halted weeks later after soldiers fell ill. Another pause hit in December 2025. IOC was formally withdrawn in early 2026. Multiple safety investigations are still ongoing. Yet here’s a senior officer claiming “no safety concerns when operated as designed and within specs.” If the specs are so fragile that real cross-country runs, changing track tension, and actual armoured exercises break them — forcing constant stops and checks — then the vehicle is unfit for purpose, not the soldiers. The Army doesn’t need officials gaslighting the troops who’ve risked their health for over a decade of procurement failure. It needs vehicles that actually work in combat conditions, not excuses that protect the programme and contractor. This isn’t leadership. When Trump says the US always comes to Britain and NATO’s rescue but never vice versa what is he referring to? Because 1,148 non-US troops died in Afghanistan including 457 Brits. In Iraq 318 non-US troops died including 179 Brits. To this day British forces are stationed across the Middle East going on daily high risk missions. This is the tired old American mentality that the US saved Britain in WW1 and WW2 when really the British suffered 8x the deaths in WW1 and more deaths than the US suffered in WW2. Not to mention that the US joined WW1 nearly 3 years into the war and WW2 over 2 years into the war so our boys fought alone as the US watched on for half a decade across both wars. So quite frankly the Americans who spout this nonsense can go fuck themselves.
