→ Artist @sougwen works in synergy with robots to expand their creative practice. This month, in collaboration with @artxcode_io, we will present RECURSIONS 遞迴, a solo exhibition of new works by @sougwen, at @ArtBasel Hong Kong 2026. To offer more context on the artist, we’re sharing videos, interviews, and past projects that explore their practice. Today, we’re sharing a Nowness video that offers further insight into their collaborative work with machines. ↓ “The rise of technological intervention and AI has marked a new era in the art world. But for Chinese-Canadian artist and researcher Sougwen Chung, this wave of change isn’t about replacing human creativity, but rather enabling humans and machines to work in artistic synergy. Based on the principles of Vedic meditation — and following a painstaking development phase — Chung identified a way to connect their brain waves to a robotic arm, initiating a technologically mediated flow state that allows the robot to apply complementary brushstrokes alongside those formed by their own hand...”

"Ecologies Of Becoming" a book by @sougwen This month, in collaboration with @artxcode_io, we will present RECURSIONS 遞迴, a solo exhibition of new works by @sougwen, at Art Basel Hong Kong 2026. To offer more context on the artist, we’re sharing some of their past projects. ⭐️ Today, we’re highlighting their monograph, published in 2024. "Authored by the visionary artist and researcher Sougwen Chung, this monograph fuses an extensive body of work that probes the fluidity between humans and technology. The publication serves as a printed testament to Sougwen’s interdisciplinary approach, spanning drawing, performance, and digital fabrication which has been showcased at pivotal exhibitions and residencies worldwide. The book unfurls themes of hybridity, co-creation, and the transformative power of technology in expanding the boundaries of artistic practice. Could art be one of the languages through which we learn to listen?” Artistic framework ‘I See Generative, Chapter 0: Wind’ by @pointline_ is live, presented by @artxcode_io and @fellowshiptrust. The release includes 1-of-1 artwork ‘Mother’, ‘Master Works’, ‘System Works’ and ‘Roots’. Seventeen ‘System Works’ are sold thus far for $21,000 USD in total. 9 sell as a set to an anonymous collector, while 8 sell individually to collectors including @NedRyersonBing, @flakoubay, and @ETC_TET. Fourteen ‘Roots’ prints are sold thus far for $150 USD each.
