Just visited the Department of Transportation in DC to see their AV (autonomous vehicle) displays. No rides, just lots of touching! See my attached video (and livestreams) for details. Lots of interest in the Tesla Cybercab, though. Surprisingly, it’s GORGEOUS in the sunlight. 🤩

What “issues”? This is an investigative escalation for a single issue. The degradation detection system. I’ve never seen a post where you’ve mentioned it. So weird that it’s been on your mind for “some time”. And for the record, NHTSA opened the EA after a Preliminary Evaluation (PE24031). It’s deeper scrutiny, but many EAs end with no action, a voluntary software update, or a recall only if a defect is confirmed.

Tesla has really solved the sun glare problem that everyone told me would be impossible without HW5. I’m completely blinded myself in this photo. FSD handling it is much safer.

I went to the exact same location of the Cybertruck accident shown in the Fox News video. This is the US-69/59 Eastex Freeway northbound HOV lane at the Y-split near the Eastex Park & Ride exit (approaching from downtown Houston toward Humble). In the Fox News video, the vehicle failed to follow the right curve, going straight into the barrier. Well, I tested it twice today with Tesla FSD engaged the entire time with zero human intervention. And unless you think I am a hologram speaking to you from another dimension now, it worked out really well. Here is the video of me taking the exact same curve twice, with Tesla FSD v14.2.2.5.

I still think she jammed on the accelerator while turned around with fussy baby, felt the speed increase, and either attempted to turn around, bumping the wheel and disengaging, or, feeling the acceleration, panicked and tapped the brake, but couldn’t turn around to get into a driving position in that 4 seconds to react to the retaining wall.

One time on FSD I reached into my back seat to soothe a crying baby. She was an inch out of reach so I stretched myself against the footwell to gain extra leverage. In the process, I accidentally pushed against the accelerator, overriding FSD and sending the car into a wall. Just kidding. That never happened. But I’m pretty sure that’s exactly what happened to someone else in the media.

When you override with the accel, you are essentially turning FSD into cruise control, or autopilot. I’m not sure if that’s what he meant. But it fits. Again, you can’t expect FSD, which has calculated that it needs to take a turn slowly, and then use your foot to override at double the speed, and not expect to crash.

@ndhawk88 @dustytesla Try doing that over 85mph. In a manual override situation, FSD does the best it can to keep up, but it is no longer in control. Try taking a 25mph curve with your foot pressed to 45mph on FSD and you’ll have what happened to this woman.
