Pretty obvious VCs would brief against this @FT! (They’re also not executives 🤦♂️)
1. It gives a public mark for valuations that they routinely inflate to continue raising funds.
2. Bad VCs want to tightly control when and on what terms founders/operating teams can get liquidity.
The argument made that founders want to “fiercely control who owns their stock” is BS. Any founder would prefer retail investors owning ords vs. a VC at the top of a pref stack.
Maybe talk to some actual executives next time @FT!

I know it’s a few weeks ago now but the @justpark story deserved a lot more coverage.
- An incredible entrepreneurial journey of effort over a decade
- More international investment into UK tech companies
- A great outcome for both the taxpayer ( through the Future Fund ) and crowd investors (via @crowdcube )
Britain needs to be less allergic to celebrating success.
