The Ultra-Millionaire Tax Act would generate over $6 trillion over the next decade—without raising taxes on 99.85% of American households. This wealth tax for millionaires and billionaires could pay for universal child care, free community college, Medicare expansion, and more.

@dustyslay It’s crazy, with property taxes you essentially are always renting from the government at a rate they can make up either by adjusting the valuation or adding a levy

This was an interesting commentary to write. I don’t know if you guys are familiar with the passive language insisted upon by city, county, and state agencies. We can’t even call a felon a felon, or a convict a convict. They are “involved in the justice system” or something like that. Also, don’t say “breast-feeding women.” It’s “chest-feeding people.” You’ll have to read the written commentary below the video for the link to that. Plus, I got to shout out George Carlin, which is always a highlight.
KIRO Newsradio 97.3 FM🎙@KIRONewsradio

What happens when the words change… but the reality doesn’t? @KIROCharlie is taking a closer look at how Seattle — and Washington state — are shifting the language around crime, punishment, and policy. “Criminal” becomes “justice-impacted.” “Income tax” becomes “millionaire’s tax.”

I’m just going to say it and I know I’ll get some hate for it, but v14.2.2.5 is the worst FSD release since v14. Constantly in the wrong lane, a lot of weird maneuvers, so many additional nav errors, routing, speed control, parking, and that’s just to name a few. v14.3 cannot come soon enough.

@KIROCharlie @KIROCharlie Listed to KIRO for years, but gave up after 1000 Trump focused commentaries from Dave Ross. I appreciate your focus on local issues and how a lot of the big govt progressive approaches aren't working for us in the PNW. A welcome change

Today's commentary. Let me give you a hypothetical. A woman is walking to her car in a parking garage in Seattle. A man grabs her purse, shoves her to the ground, and runs. She breaks her wrist in the fall. She’s shaken for months. She stops going out at night. In New York, that’s a robbery. In Boston, that’s an assault. In Chicago, the guy who did it is a criminal. Direct. Clear. Subject, verb, object. He did this to her. In Seattle, according to King County Public Health’s official language guide, the man who did this is a “justice-impacted individual.” What he did created certain outcomes. The system became involved. Things occurred.

@TRUmav Thanks! We just shifted to a new plan starting April 1 with another 13% increase. We're seeing 10%+ rate increases annually which is unsustainable. Next year I want to go this route

@johnsonflip Yes you can. Though I think you will find that there are very few brokers who are knowledgeable about these plan types. And most will incorrectly tell you that it's not ACA compliant (it is)

Real-life example of how the major health insurance companies are ripping you off. *Even worse if you're a 'large employer' like me This is for my family of 4. Wife & I are in our 40's. Last year, I was paying $24,000 in premiums for JUST health insurance (so not including dental, viz, other). This also (obvi) does not include all the other out-of-pocket crap (OOP) that you have to pay for. Next year, my family of 4 will cut that bill by 70% by opting into a health share (we're personally doing the Sedera $1500 IUA). We're also adding a Direct Primary Care (DPC) family membership (think concierge Dr. that operates outside of the insurance world) for $300 a month to take care of all our day-to-day needs. So altogether, with a family DPC membership + family healthshare membership, we are getting BETTER care & BETTER coverage for 50%!!!! of what we were paying last year. *& this isn't even taking into account all of our other OOP costs last year, which would make the savings look even better It gets crazier (above) if you opt for 'gold' plans which are just code for 'the insurance company keeps more of your money.' And if you're a large employer (over 50 FTE's, full-time equivalents) you could save a small fortune by switching to a plan like the above. And despite what most idiotic health insurance brokers will tell you, you can make a plan with DPC's + healthshares ACA-compliant. + you don't have to carry a stop-loss policy anymore (mine in 25' is about $150k) + you (the business owner) gets out of the plan design & admin business + you're not forcing one-size-fits-all plans on a huge group of people that have v different needs + your team will view it as a raise because they'll see little to no deductions from their paycheck anymore *for individuals + you deliver better care & better coverage I'll have a lot of content on this topic next year. I went all the way down to the bottom of the health insurance/health care rabbit hole. And if you don't come out fighting mad when you discover all the vampire squids in the process, well, even Jesus can't help you. I also just love this simulation on what no insurance vs insurance looks like over a 50 year sample (yes dewb this is assuming you don't have cancer or something at the end of your life, but you're on Medicare at that point anyways). @johnsonflip You're always a cash payer once you go down this path. Everything (ER & pregnancy included) is covered as long as it does not apply to a pre-existing condition. And for pregnancy, the pre-existing condition would be already pregnant before signing up

I'm watching AI get deployed across companies in my world. It's not killing jobs so far. Instead, existing companies are just getting better at satisfying customers more efficiently. Same thing that happened with virtually every tech innovation since 1900. My prediction is this continues: 1) The US will stay at full employment. 2) AI will turbocharge the US economy, furthering our economic lead in the world. 3) Professors feel threatened by AI. So, they write studies like this one:

Turns out the slower overall pace and frequency of games is a big plus for baseball. That's because people really like having live background video in their homes while they use the Internet or do whatever else. I'm very serious about this. Baseball is one of the best forms of background "noise" for modern life. 2 hours, 15 minutes, with lots of breaks. And you can always tell when there's action because of the crowd noise. It's 162 games a year over 6 months + playoffs and spring training.

MLB has passed the NBA to become the second most popular pro sport. Quite the comeback, considering how baseball was left for dead a few years back:

I don’t believe anyone is moving out of WA because of the millionaire tax: 1. The tax is almost certainly unconstitutional and will be struck down by the court 2. The governor hasn’t even signed it yet 3. Can be repealed by citizen initiative and voters have already voted against income tax 10 times, most recently in 2010 4. Even if it passes, it only takes effect in 2028 5. California, as almost every other state, has an even higher millionaire tax and it seems like plenty of millionaires stay there If you’re wealthy, why would you uproot your life and family on something that will very likely not happen and if it happens you have 2 years to react?
Caleb Hammer@sircalebhammer

Just after Washington State voted to approve a 9.9% "millionaire tax" on personal income over $1 million, Jeff Bezos, Howard Schultz, and tons fled. The impacts will be ENORMOUS. I gathered the facts, stories, and data and made this mini documentary: youtu.be/9Vg0-7c0J3g

🚨🇺🇸 DAVID SACKS COMPLETES HIS 130 DAYS AS TRUMP'S AI AND CRYPTO CZAR Sacks used up his full allocation as a special government employee and is now moving to co-chair the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. In just over four months, Sacks helped shape Trump's AI framework, pushed for easier permitting and power generation for tech companies, and brought serious Silicon Valley credibility to an administration that needed it. He sold over $200 million in crypto investments before taking the role. No conflicts. Clean hands. Now he gets an expanded portfolio. PCAST covers AI plus a broader range of technology policy. Less day-to-day operations, more strategic recommendations directly to the president. Sacks: "I think moving forward as co-chair of PCAST, I can now make recommendations on not just AI but an expanded range of technology topics." One of the few people in Washington who actually understands how this technology works. Good to see him staying involved. Source: CNBC @DavidSacks

🚨🇺🇸🇮🇷 David Sacks warned that the U.S. is at risk of applying too much pressure to Iran, forcing the desperate regime to essentially try to destroy the Gulf states. "Something like 100 million people on the Arabian Peninsula get their water from desal. Desal plants are soft targets. If you see that type of destruction continue, you could render the Gulf almost uninhabitable." Source: All-In Podcast
