No, it’s not the banks that create the money, it’s you. You create new money when you borrow, because when you borrow you promise to repay with something that doesn’t exist yet. Then it’s up to you to create the money by which you will repay the loan. You create the money, not the bank.

Banks create the money they lend you out of thin air. They dont “take in money” from depositors and then lend it out. They just create new money from nothing. Look it up. It's true.

I'd love to know what AppKit NSColors are being used in Apple's Mac apps. Every one I've tried based on the sorta vague descriptions has been horribly wrong. In my Catalyst app I am currently using a clear background color for the window, and for the secondary/tertiary content, I made my own colors based on a visual guesstimate of Apple's apps.

@DylanMcD8 IMO Apple should either add a new UI library that just vends style info for different elements on the local runtime, or build something like that into SwiftUI. Figuring out what color is used is annoying, although @KyleSwifter would prob know of some way to check

@vanilagy I got the same maps vid on yt, after about 30 seconds i caught some slop-terms and searched ai in the comments, the guy admitted to using ai to help, but said it was still him who worked on it :/

The dead internet theory is becoming more and more real. YouTube is being flooded with "explainer" channels which are likely ~100% AI-generated. AI script, AI voice (they pick one with an accent so people don't suspect AI), and the visuals are created programmatically by a coding agent. Thankfully a few people in the comments always pick up on it. The #1 giveaway besides the content is a lack of social media presence; these are always abstractly named and faceless channels with no outgoing links to socials. The thumbnails are clickable but the content ends up feeling hollow. If I wanted to hear ChatGPT's "thoughts" on these topics, I'd ask it directly. I don't need a video to be the middleman while it's trying to deceive me into thinking it's human-made. I don't really think there's a fix for this, and it forces us to adopt the "assume slop unless proven otherwise" mindset, which sucks.

Anyone know why on earth the github "closed PRs" view sorts by when the PR was _opened_, not when it was _closed_? It even has a dropdown for sorting that doesn't include "merge date" for some bizarre reason. I must be doing something wrong because this feels like UI 101.

@NearestCommit I don't like its ui color scheme to be honest, the color for paths is a pretty shitty grey and also it doesn't feel yet too polished.

Zed uses less RAM then vscode and its faster but it also drains my battery WAY faster then vscode

@ehn Because USB key logging devices can't read what's in the system clipboard, and need the keys to actually be pressed.

Why do some developers (especially at banks and similar) turn off paste in password fields? What are they trying to achieve? If anything, it will make people choose worse passwords because they can't be bothered to manually type good ones.

@zats @krzyzanowskim The issue isn’t opening the same folder twice, its opening a folder thats is inside or referenced by a folder you have open so if MyProject depends on a library called MyLibrary and MyLibrary is stored locally on your system when MyProject is open you cant open MyLibrary
