I'll tell you why there was a plea deal, because there are lots of Cody Roberts in Wyoming who are probably doing similar things to wolves in the predator zone. Wolves can be killed by any means there. You don't need a license, just hate wolves and want them dead. So I don't think the prosecution wanted to open that can of worms. The only reason we know what Roberts did is because he decided it was a good idea to parade a very injured, yearling wolf around in a bar. How many more wolves are being tortured and killed in the predator zone? Somebody needs to do an expose on what goes on there and it won't be pretty.
Congress passed a wolf delisting rider in 2011, attached to a budget bill, which delisted wolves in the Northern Rockies and banned judicial challenge. So wolves in Wyoming, Idaho and Montana have suffered under the Fish and Game agencies of those states who think the only good wolf is a dead wolf. The battle has raged for 30 years and so many wolves have suffered and died because of the intense hatred of their species. #relistwolves #ESA #Wyoming
