One other thought about the Old Vienna announcement, which we still don’t have all the details on; the marketing/business side of the club doesn’t have to operate in lockstep with the sporting side.
It’s not unreasonable to see announcements like this with play resuming in a week. Especially if there is any relation to merch or something else.
Is it disappointing to the fan base, who seem starved for roster moves? Sure. Can it be perceived, unfairly or not, in a negative way? Of course, everything can.
While I’d much prefer roster news, my reaction probably isn’t as negative as some. The business side of the club has to make announcements and do their job. That’s what this teaser seems to be related to. It doesn’t mean the sporting side isn’t active or that they have unserious aspirations. It’s just the different sides of the club operating independently.

@willbrattonstl It is sad how quiet it has become. Doesn’t seem to be any enthusiasm from the club (SD or ownership) or the fans. Something needs to break soon or it doesn’t matter how many free sodas they allow, nobody will be there to drink them.

Today's main #tornado threat is in this 5% Cig1 circle along the Kansas/Oklahoma border. Pre-frontal convection ahead of the modeled MCV's storm cluster may remain discrete. If it does, it will be in a favorably sheared environment where a strong tornado would be possible. I hope everyone is staying safe with the ongoing tornado outbreak in Illinois/Indiana.
I apologize for not going live — I couldn’t justify not spending time with my father and grandfathers.
I’ve spent nearly every minute in my office lately between WBWX, my internship, and preparing for grad school.
As a result, I haven’t spent as much time with family as I would like — so I made the tough decision to sacrifice a possible broadcast today.
I also apologize for my forecast not being as accurate as my standard today.
There were a lot of uncertainties regarding the setup. I did discuss both the fail modes and the MCV that could (and did) get things going, but I didn’t expect anything quite this significant either way.

Smith, 23, joins WBWX with an exceptional chasing resume spanning over 5 years. He first provided coverage with WBWX on the June 17th, 2026 outbreak in the Midwest.
Based in southeast Ohio, Smith is pursuing a meteorology degree at Ohio University, with plans to graduate in 2027. He also works with SevereStudios chasing tornadoes and hurricanes, with a goal of chasing winter weather this upcoming season.
He is equipped with drones as a licensed Part 107 Drone Operator and is well known across social platforms.
With a personal goal of bringing more severe weather awareness to rural parts of the country like his home region of the Appalachias, Smith's vision and values align directly with ours, making him an outstanding addition to the WillBrattonWx team.

Last night's weather was nuts, and I am proud of the work we did on our broadcast.
I am so grateful for the work of our team and affiliate chasers. We were able to get visuals on numerous tornadoes and provide quality information.
Live hits with @floridamanwx and @Norman_Wx and watching @MIDWESTWxLIVE's Alan pick up a stranded pedestrian while CJ & @hurricanetrack helped clear debris from a roadway was bittersweet.
On one hand, it is amazing we can provide this coverage and do good in our community by working with chasers who share our values -- but seeing the devastation from yesterday's event was heartbreaking.
Getting recognition from folks like @PettusWX and @EvanFor2020 is pretty surreal.
We have almost reached 500 subscribers on YouTube, our forecast videos are gaining traction, and the quality of everything we're doing is so much higher than I expected within just 10 days of launch.
This is possible because of my team. They're so talented and their commitment to my dream feels so undeserved. They deserve so much recognition.
