@TerribleMaps That is a terrible map! Religion without science is missing beautiful detail of God‘s creation. Science without religion is trying to describe five dimensions with a two dimensional ruler.

For my weekly sermons, I’m doing an in-depth study on the gifts of the Spirit. This coming weekend, I’ll be covering the gifts of tongues and interpretation. From your perspective, the gift of tongues is: A) The supernatural ability to speak in a legitimate, earthly language you have not otherwise known B) The supernatural ability to speak in a heavenly language that is not understood by any human without supernatural interpretation C) Both D) Neither

@ItsAGambleThing @MaddieT2012 @rabbriansamuel He repeated Torah on both. I agree it’s a dangerous line of thought. Peter himself recognized Paul’s writings as scripture. However Paul distinguished between his thoughts and God’s at times, which is fascinating.

@MaddieT2012 @rabbriansamuel The danger of going down that error laden road is how do you keep someone from saying such applies to homosexuality? Or fornication? It’s either plenary inspiration or it’s meaningless.

I have to admit, Paul's writings on head coverings and hair length in 1 Corinthians 11 has me puzzled. Why such rules? Do men really have to take their hats off when praying? Do women really have to wear a head covering, otherwise shave bald? Is long hair really disgraceful for a man? I have to wonder if these sayings are idiomatic and we lost some context here. Where do you land on this?

@WarMonitor3 No-ish. It’s a heart problem, not a legislative one. We need to value people. Babies are a blessing! Stop aborting them. Making that illegal would help but not solve.

@CM147143 @BarnetBandit @iamheazz @WarMonitor3 He also at breakfast and breathed air like I do. What’s your point? He waged illegal wars (illegal per Kuwait, UN, etc Al.) And was the recipient of illegal wars (violations of Iraqi sovereignty and law. Jordan, Yemen, and others said the same of Gulf War 1, for instance.)

@MustangSally_12 @hokkori_nekko American here—that’s the case in some places, but not where I live! Very safe, very clean. And schools are as propaganda free as the better end of the curve.

@hokkori_nekko Good job, Dad! I grew up in the USA in the 1970s and it was the same way. It’s no longer safe or clean anymore; our public schools are still free but they teach propaganda. Please learn from our mistakes and keep Japan the way it is now. ❤️

“It’s not about religion; it’s about a relationship!” This is a popular and beloved phrase you’ll hear from many Christians. I loathe it. Huh? “Skeletor, it means that you need a relationship with Jesus, not all that phony religion stuff.” “How do you establish a relationship with Jesus?” “Prayer, fasting, reading the Bible, holy music, service work, sharing the gospel, devotions, worship with others, and growing in faith.” “That’s literally religion.” Stunned silence. Ok, ok, before you swamp me in the replies: I get it. People mean that you can’t “fake” religion and refuse to live Christ. Yes, I agree. Many wolves live to deceive and harm people. But when Christians say we condemn “religion”, we are hating the very vehicle that brings us to Christ. Sure, we can condemn FALSE displays of religion. “But Skeletor, Jesus was against the religious leaders of His day!” Yes He was. Because they improperly interpreted and practiced it. Religion itself wasn’t bad; Jesus would have hated the temple and condemned Judaic practices otherwise. Like Jeremiah before Him, whom He quoted while driving out money changers, it was the perverse and cruel practice of the faith Jesus condemned. Let me ask you a question: if I played “Let it Be” on a xylophone and missed every 4th note, would you be angry at Paul McCartney or me? Why is it that when we meet heretics and false shepherds, we blame Christianity for their sin instead of them? We can certainly debate proper religious practice, but we are fools to think that religion itself is bad. In doing so, we condemn all the saints who came before us and the theology that inspires us. And we make it acceptable for unbelievers to mock it as well. Why should they respect religion if we won’t?

HALAL. Is it too much to ask that my meat in the supermarket is clearly labelled halal - if it is halal? No. It is not too much. It is the bare minimum. I would like to decline eating food over which an Islamic prayer has been said. That goes against everything I believe in. Against my values. Against my faith. And it is my full right as a consumer and as a Christian to know what I put in my mouth - and what has happened to it before it got there. This is not about hatred towards Muslims (so take it easy). It is about respect for myself. And here is what is so absurd…sorry, what is so grotesque: A large proportion of the meat sold in Danish (or EU) supermarkets is halal slaughtered. Without it being clearly stated. Without you as a consumer being actively informed. You buy it. You eat it. And you don’t know. Halal slaughter means the animal must face Mecca. That an Islamic prayer - Bismillah Allahu Akbar - is recited over the animal before it is slaughtered. That the meat is thereby dedicated to Allah. This is not a neutral product. It is a religious ritual. And I - as a Christian - did not ask to participate in that ritual. I was not asked. I was not informed. It just happened. Imagine the reverse. Imagine Muslims being served food that had been blessed in the name of Jesus without knowing it. The uproar it would cause. Rightfully so. So why is it not the same when it happens the other way around? Because it is never the same. It is never symmetrical. The consideration always goes one way. Label the meat. Clearly. Always. Not as a hostile act. But as the most basic respect for consumers’ right to know what they are buying…and what they do not want. This is not racism (so relax, again). It is consumer protection!❤️‍🔥✝️🪽

@mlo7d4l @iamheazz @WarMonitor3 No “Betterson”, all countries find it illegal given almost all are parties to the UN conventions Hence why Desert Storm had a UN security council resolution and was therefore completely legal And don’t use WW2 as a counterexample since those treaties were signed post-ww2
