I’m pleased to have signed this @BHAHorseracing letter to the @DCMS Secretary. Affordability checks are a blunt tool to tackle problem gambling and racing is the wrong target — all they’ve done is to drive legitimate punters onto the black market and cause serious damage to the sport. This was a misguided policy introduced by the previous government which the current administration should ditch. #BackBritishRacing #SaveOurBets

On #WorldTBDay I usually draw attention on behalf of the @GlobalTBCaucus to the 1.25m people worldwide who die unnecessarily every year from a disease which is preventable, treatable and curable. This year I’m also going to point out that the UK is now in grave danger of losing its @WHO status as a low incidence country for TB. Today the @APPGTB has published a report drawing attention to rising rates of TB in the UK — 5,490 cases were diagnosed in England alone last year, a 13.6 per cent increase — and the urgent need for a renewed TB Action Plan. #EndTB results.org.uk/wp-content/upl…
