#inflation

@Pepperfire Should I list all the atrocious things their currently doing to their own people? You fucking idiot. They're one of the biggest human rights violating nations in the world. Set aside the current genocide against the Uyghur Muslims, or the issues with Tibet and Hong Kong.1/?

@blemmy Why are we going to trade with you? We don’t need to. Your current value proposition is that you are integrating communist China more deeply into your society. That’s the whole problem the U.S. has with you and is exactly why trade is going to get cut off.

I'd rather American healthcare. At least you get the service you are paying for. In Canada one of the leading causes of death is waiting for care. Our healthcare is rationed and as a result many folks health outcomes are much worse as a result of lack of basic care. Another leading cause of death is also our medical systems MAID program! Socialism is not a reason to feel superior to America. They still live a much higher standard of living than Canadians!

@vespasiian @bleu_fog @jackunheard For medication, almost all country with universal healthcare (europe, Canada etc) are negociating a golabl price for all the country. US refuse universal healthcare so they don't have that leverage power for price.

Global prices are merely a benchmark. Perhaps you should see how cheap we sell Canada oil to the US. Then ask why prices are so high in Canada. If Canada built more refineries, lower extreme taxes and regulatory costs - caused by government - Canada can have much lower energy costs. Global high oil price should give Canada a significant advantage and boost the dollar because Canada can sell at higher prices, priced in CAD - as it did before the Liberals came in power. Perhaps you forgot how strong the Canadian dollar was 10 years ago when oil prices were high. Canadian oil producers can produce and sell to Canadians at prices far lower than the global price benchmark. Add in refineries and the cost would be even lower - but we still send our oil to the US to be refined, and then the US sells our own oil back at higher prices.

Ridiculous. 4th-largest oil reserves in the world. $2.09 per litre at the pumps. It's time to build pipelines, refineries and an energy policy that puts Canada, and Canadians, first! 🇨🇦
