I'm so old, I remember when nationalised Royal Mail delivered the post twice a day with stamps at an affordable price. Then it was sold off and 'the superior efficiency of the private sector' kicked in.

In 1988-9 at Birmingham Poly, my course had a typography lecturer called Jenny, who forced us to select a random typeface from a hat and then reset a menu in that font using one type size. It's felt, at times, like I've been doing that brief ever since.

hey @O2 — I bought a sim from you on one of your offers. I've heard nothing in 8 days, so I rang up today and I was given the weakest of reasons why this hasn't been fulfilled.

Sadly we ran out of time before I could voice my (non-religious) opposition to legalising Assisted Dying. You can hear my arguments here: bbc.co.uk/programmes/m00…

@JennieGow Max is gaming the letter of the rules — if it's allowed to continue, the best tactic is to ask Oscar to crash into Max at the first chance to counter Max's strategy. The FIA might consider HAMs return in a faster Ferrari next year.

Interested to know what evidence McLaren will bring to the meeting. Thought this might rumble on. What do you think? #F1

Went into business with a friend, thinking it was a great idea. He got to travel the world for work while I was stuck with all the admin, I put my own dreams on hold to push his forward. The lesson? I sold my share, and I've never been happier. One year later, company went bust.

The cult of positivity, despite the facts, risks, and disastrous consequences, often for other people, is rewarded when money is cheap and a curse when it's not. Just saying.

Returned car to @hertz Bordeaux with a scratch on windscreen. Charging me €1,000 to replace entire windscreen! Spoken to multiple windscreen companies today; should cost €250-350. I’d like to see quite from Hertz’s garage proving the price please. @hertzfrance #carrental

Just offered to speak to a startup community for free to help promote my new book. However I was told by the event organiser that to stick within their community guidelines and maintain their "give-and-take" culture I wasn't allowed mention the book. I pointed out that this sounded more like a "take" culture to me. They didn't seem especially happy with this.

Muse: There's nothing wrong with capitalism per se; it's the capitalists who take capitalism (the making of money at all costs) one stage further, and another and so on. The compound effect of capitalists practising capitalism without boundaries is the problem with capitalism.

Agree. Other big cities around the world don’t allow their residential property to be bought as investments by international buyers who never live there. It guts the city. Why have we allowed it?

If you're in digital research, content or design, amongst many other roles, and the company you work for won't pay the minor fees for an AI account of your choosing, then that's probably a sign.

A lot of technologists are inspired or directly aim for ideas that Science Fiction presents them — but equally, they seem to ignore all of the predictable and resulting downsides. This is masked as 'progress'
