well there should be a synthetic way to get exposure and the best derivative on earth is the perpetual future, so in that sense i disagree i agree that it's hard though it comes down to supply and demand. if there is demand (users who want exposure), there will be supply (market makers making markets) but if everyone gets liquidated every time there is a 20% intraday wick because it's being manipulated, it's a worse than useless market correctly incentivizing supply/demand to meet and establishing oneself as the credible, neutral exchange where trades should occur is the hard part trove just failed at every single line item

i didn't invest but i disagree that the @TroveMarkets concept is bad just because they committed crimes yes the idea is fun, people love the underlying products themselves, it's got sex appeal but from a portfolio construction perspective i also see why someone would want exposure to something art-adjacent like, idk, pokemon cards or birkins going into the post-scarcity AGI world, physical objects as an asset class could go bananas however the actual implementation of perps on these markets is definitely a lot more boring than people would want it to be, and the price bands would need to be set to something everyone would hate like 5% per week to prevent manipulation the Trove implementation is/was really bad though. intraday 20% whipsaw moves caused by a lack of effective price band constraints is a dealbreaker the other primary issue in the implementation was of course the crime

fogo is trading at a $2.7b fdv on Hyperliquid’s pre-market, while Polymarket traders are betting that post tge it won’t even hold above $1b or even $700m this is yet another proof that perp pre-markets are manipulated through pure crime and that a prediction market like Polymarket offers far more realistic signal anyone claiming otherwise is welcome to express that view directly on fogo NO order books, i’ll be happy to meet them there
