For the sake of the argument, assume the contract was a more reasonable 1 million MVR instead of the alleged 13m.
Assume the contract was awarded by a closed invitation only process.
Assume there was no corruption involved, that is to say, staff weren't involved in awarding the contract to people they know or are linked to.
It still shouldn't result in something that is completely useless and clearly developed by people who barely have any clue what they are doing!
Shame on @MTCCPlc for allowing this travesty to even launch! Where is the leadership? Where is taking responsibility?

Iโm told MTCC awarded a ~MVR 13 million โMaleTaxiAppโ project to a company called FixedMaldives.
Key concerns being raised:
- No open bidding, only selected suppliers were invited
- Fixed Maldives is a sole proprietorship registered in 2022, with no listed business names, activity permits, or relevant licenses
- Their services donโt indicate app development capabilities
- Portfolio shows experience in hardware, cameras, and networking: not software development
- Project was reportedly due for completion in November, but app remains unfinished as of yesterday
- Multiple payments have already been made
This is something journalists should look into, to verify the facts, clarify the procurement process, and provide transparency on the projectโs current status.

Itโs confirmed, we have details of the entire team worked on the system testing phase. As suspected earlier 1 Sri Lankan developer is also part of this project team.

9 years ago, we came up with an idea to introduce an Uber-like service to the Maldives using motorcycles. We identified the problem we wanted to solve: vehicle congestion, while also giving people a chance to earn a living since they already own motorcycles. We called it Ride Maldives. We met @em_saeed and the ministry to demo the app and seek endorsement, given that the service was ready for launch with over 200 male and female drivers on our waitlist. The next day, the economic ministry released a press statement saying they were starting a new motorcycle taxi service and that companies could apply after a new regulation. We were told to apply. Transport took almost a year to draft the regulation. They took our base idea but stripped out all the safety measures we had put in place. Despite multiple attempts, they didnโt even want to meet us or get our feedback before gazetting the regulation and opening it up for services. Since it was already released, despite all our efforts to update it so we could provide a safe service to the public, the transport ministry denied it. So we decided to halt the project completely. A few months later, a company started the motorcycle service and then stopped for whatever reason. We were later asked to come to the transport ministry for a discussion, and they assured us they would change everything to fit our needs. By then, it was too late, we had already moved on to our next project: LottieFiles. Bottom line: our idea was to introduce an Uber-like motorcycle service, while the transport/economic ministries were still learning about the concept of motorcycle taxis from Thailand. USD 907,000 for a taxi app? Thatโs surprising itโs almost comparable to building a mid-sized banking app or full-scale financial platform. Truly a lucky company to secure a project like that in Maldives for developing an app. For that price, Iโm sure it looks like an inflated offer.

Updates: 1. Farish Hussain was recently promoted to General Manager. Congratulations and special thanks to the โPO guyโ 2. I am told Farish is the nephew of the owner of FixedMaldives. 3. As stated in my very first tweet, the app wasnโt ready for last nights ceremony. A web link was pushed instead, and even that is now down due to data leak and security concerns raised by local developers Dear Farish, You handled the tender process for this project. It was managed under your department. Only selected companies were invited to bid. Your uncleโs company, with no known app dev experience, secured the project. Multiple payments, each exceeding 2 million, were processed under your watch. Internal IT/development teams were not involved. Finance staff were not involved. Maybe all of this is just a coincidence. Maybe you had no role in any of it. Maybe someone else is responsible. But at this point, the public deserves clarity. Itโs time to speak. Please come clean and explain how this process unfolded the way it did.

When I logged back into X today, I was wow-ed, the dev community on X has really done the heavy lifting on this one. Hereโs whatโs come out so far:
1. MTCC Assistant GM Abdulla Farish and the owner of FixedMaldives are both registered at the same address, Daisymaage.
2. Farish handled the tender processโฆ and is also leading the project from MTCCโs side.
3. On the FixedMaldives side, the project is led by a police officer, Ismail Hassan, who apparently goes by the name โghost.โ
4. MTCCโs MD is a former police officer too. Not only that, he and Ismail Hassan arenโt just ex-colleagues, theyโre both from HA. Hoarafushi.
5. And of course, the app wasnโt even ready for launch. The website they rolled out last night is full of issues and data leaks, already exposed in detail by local devs. Great debut.
6. Yesterday, MTCC launched an internal investigationโฆ to figure out who leaked the information.
7. Last night, after the ceremony, the โPO guy,โ MD, and Ismail Hassan met at the Hulhumale ferry terminal to โhandle the crisis.โ
Not sure what your next move is or how this will be spun, but just a heads-up: payments for โMilestone 1 & 2โ to FixedMaldives are already traceable.

At the end of the day, itโs our money, our taxi system, and our data. If the institutions meant to protect them wonโt, then people stepping up like this is exactly what needs to happen.

I am hearing that entire backend is controlled and managed by the Fixed Maldives, using Firebase backend panel. Peopleโs location movement information in the hands of irresponsible sole proprietor, can be a disaster.
