Make Hackney’s Main Roads Liveable

This- the time is now to act for children living and crossing/walking/cycling on Hackney’s main roads like Queensbridge, Downham, Whiston, Graham Road and others:

We joined up with @cities_clean and @MumsForLungs this morning to support the launch of a terrifying new report from @transenv which shows that children under the age of 9 cannot be seen by the driver when directly in front of the vehicle.

This is the THIRD pedestrian death in Hackney in 2025. The second caused by an HGV on a main road. We need to have safer lorries and main roads that allow pedestrians to cross safely. These were not people running carelessly across the road. hackneygazette.co.uk/news/25171095.…

I live on a cycling route in Hackney and have had a Telraam cycle counter for 6 months. Yesterday, it recorded an impressive 2,441 cycles, despite not counting overlapping cyclists or tracking at night. Provide people with safe routes to cycle, the results speak for themselves

The moment a Low Traffic Neighbourhood goes in, drivers who want to rat run through your street will start shouting that ‘the old and disabled can’t cycle!!!’. As Zwolle, Netherlands, clearly shows, segregated cycling and LTNs *increase* freedom for those with mobility issues.
