@miles_chains @uktoday At £1m per 210 against £250,000 for a Sprinter the 210 never stood a chance, no matter how superior it was.

@uktoday I guess that’s a question we’ll never really know the answer to. I did like the class 210 project, and wished it had been rolled out as an alternative. However, there’s more redundancy in having an engine on every car, and under slung engines save space. 👍🧐

It seems a long time ago when the first mainstream Sprinter, the class 150 was introduced. Vilified and hated by many for replacing loco hauled services that often had 3 times the capacity! Seen here a little later in its life at Manchester Piccadilly. #Class150 #Sprinter
