@Qivshi1 I think llms can have very long range coherence because they have a ton of extra dimensions to play with using different rope frequencies. With the right architectures llms are like, downright poggers. Naive 2d rope can't do this in two dimensional ways though, ironically enough

Here is your daily reminder that there is *zero* strong empirical evidence that LLMs can autonomously exponentially self-improve into an "AGI" or "ASI".

@Slopagandist @wylfcen Being a racist because black people are (on average) more violent than white people is like becoming a radical feminist because men are (on average) more violent than women.

@breckgold Definitely not, you can already clean things up by directing AIs to do it if you know what you’re doing. The idea we will be writing the code ourselves is absurd.

Has there ever been a field that’s changed as quickly as programming in the last 18 months? The only thing more incomprehensible to me than that I used to hand write code is that there are thousands of programmers still doing it. An insane schism due to the speed of change.

@gfodor Yeah I started in the early 90s writing accounting software back when that was still quite technical. Now its just "you are a cash register, charge 6% tax" I get it.

It's almost like there is a dark cabal bent on tearing down western civilization with assassinations, blackmail, propaganda, leveraging vice, sin, inflation, suicidal empathy and campaigns of mass fear and terror designed to deprive citizens of their civil liberties.

What? Europe and America would be 99.9% native born people and thriving if the Nazis had won. The English language is basically German and Latin. The Bolsheviks would have been defeated and the 60 million white Russians they killed would still be alive. Mao's great leap would never have happened, so add on all those Chinese souls lost.

@Foiblaet I presume you're speaking from an American POV? I shudder to think what could have happened to American hegemony if Nazi Germany had been allowed to occupy the UK and consolidate control, or be wiped away by the USSR with a wholly Communist Europe left behind

Kid in my daughter's year 9 RE class has walked out this week and refused to come back. When told that are now going to be learning about Islam he stood up and said "I'm not wasting my time on this bullshit." Walked out and didn't come back. Half of the class are Muslim. It's begun.

And all we could take are: -potassium iodide (to counteract iodine-131) -additional potassium (orotate, chloride, gluconate all equally effective against cesium-137–which is to say, not very effective compared to Prussian blue [which we can’t buy and store without prescription]) -calcium (calcium/magnesium mix fine…to counteract strontium-90) Regarding : -plutonium-239? We’re fucked. Gotta depend on government for DTPA. Government ain’t coming to help. -cobalt-60? Penicillamine (prescription only). Or, again, depend on the government for EDTA. For nukes and dirty bombs (radiological weapons), we can only get OTC countermeasures for the first three isotopes I mentioned. For the last two, we are fucked. We are also fucked as OTC consumers when it comes to Zr-95, Ru-103, Ce-141, Y-91, Ba-140, La-140, Americium-241, Ruthenium-106, Cerium-144, and Promethium-147. In addition to cobalt-60 and strontium-90, Americium-241, and Ruthenium-106, a dirty bomb might disperse, Iridium-192, and possibly Plutonium-238 (alpha), and Californium-252. No OTC countermeasures for these either.

Don't forget to stockpile salt. It seems incredibly common and cheap right now, but absent affordable transportation fuels and engine lubricants, salt becomes shockingly scarce and valuable as a multi-purpose survival commodity.
