@100pcLondoner

Born a Tory and will die as one; but others should be Conservatives too. Into History, High Church CofE, Liberty, Brexit & Oval cricket. Ex City.

You may wonder why I describe myself as 40.1%Londoner. I was unmitigated 100% until the EU vote when I was asked how a Brexiteer could be that. It was ignored then, & often still forgotten now, that 40.1% of London EU Ref votes were for Leave. My handle keeps that memory alive.

@BrexitStewart Do you really know what the local Greens Cllr’s there (and the Reform UK ones) are like and what the local issues are on which the Tories might collaborate with either? I don’t, and I doubt you do. These choices should be up to Cllr’s on the ground to decide.

He thinks we should put the local leader of an extremist high tax antisemitic party in power as the Leader of a local authority despite having only 8 out of 57 seats. Really. Are you smoking what the Greens want to legalise Gav?
Gavin Barwell@GavinBarwell

No amount of impressive rhetorical performances in the Commons will make up for poor strategic judgement. Kemi doesn't seem to realise the survival of many of her MPs at the next election will depend on their ability to attract anti-Reform tactical votes 1/5

@wallaceme I totally agree. Particularly as banks have made it so easy to tap to oblivion by contactless payment. Is it really more likely that taking out actual cash is the road to ruin than someone tapping away with no receipts and probably unaware of how much they’re spending?

Cash machine: “Hi, what would you like? Balance? Balance and Cash? Cash only?” <press Cash Only> “Ok. Do you want to see your balance?” <No> “How much cash would you like?” <£30> “Would you like to see your balance?” <NO> Why are they like this?

@CrewkerneMan @LucyTrims Tories will definitely stand because they still aspire to be a national party and you don’t want anyone anywhere to develop the habit of voting for other parties because there’s no candidate. How much effort they put into fighting the seat is entirely another matter.

The Conservatives should absolutely contest Makerfield. We have the most popular leader, the best programme for government, and thousands of voters there who deserve proper representation, not to be used as Andy Burnham’s political springboard.

@derrfe @CR2SE25 Definitely not much in the northern parts of Lambeth where I am. Chelsea is the dominant team with a smattering of Arsenal. We don’t look south (except when there are Borough elections!)

People who join political parties aren’t like average people. Their concerns are not the same. They shouldn’t be picking the Prime Minister because they have no link to the electorate. MPs have to answer to voters. Party members answer to no-one.

@100pcLondoner @realmfberlin Goodness no. These threads make me laugh. What Americans consider “upper class” is either trashy and fanciful or just a solid middle class name

@politicReformed @ZiaYusufUK He wasn’t in his seat for the debate that followed. I’m not in alliance with the Greens, one Conservative Council group is. Possibly because they’d seen ReformUK in power there for the last year, didn’t think much of them, and thought they’d exercise more influence elsewhere.

This is incredible. In Worcestershire, the Tories have teamed up with the Greens to topple the minority Reform administration and replace it with a Green-led rainbow coalition. Read that again. This is who the Tories are when you elect them. Open borders green lunatics. Just as they colluded with Labour to try and cancel elections for millions in places like Essex (where they were then demolished), they will tirelessly against secure borders, law and order and all the things their former voters wanted from them. That’s why they’re headed for oblivion.

Streeting has resigned. In his departure letter to the prime minister, he warns of a “dangerous English nationalism”, slags off Reform, attacks Starmer’s “island of strangers” remarks and calls Brexit a “disaster”. That should bring the Red Wall flocking back.

@politicReformed @ZiaYusufUK How are Reform UK conservative? A party whose Leader doesn’t even show respect to the King by turning up for the State opening of Parliament!

@ZiaYusufUK I do hope people realise that the tories are not conservative, they moved to the left with the libdems alliance and has never moved back to the center even. Stop calling them conservatives, they are Tories and left wingers at that.

Shocking negligence of Parliamentary duties by @Nigel_Farage. I knew he was criticised for poor attendance at the Eur Parl but I assumed that was because, reasonably, he didn’t respect the institution. Have to conclude he doesn’t respect our Parliament. True patriots have noticed
Lord David Speaks@MasterJamesofS1

If you're the leader of a political party that is represented in Parliament and can't be bothered to turn up for one of the big set piece occasions, then you have no business claiming you want to be PM.
