@DrEilidhMaria My base salary as an ST1 was just over £40.5K. I assume this is including London weighting too then so the average salary will be even less than these figure suggest?

@xolisajane Fully support your outrage. Try being a doctor where everyone thinks they can do your job better than despite having no idea what it actually entails 😂 so many people describe themselves as "basically a doctor"

@alienfromzog @Dr_BellaR If someone is prevented from entering for example a locum year or a specialist training post which (may) lead to salary increase (I took a pay cut from F2 to ST1 Ophthalmology) despite being equally competent as their peers, more training time is a crazy justification

@Dr_BellaR It's ridiculous that you weren't part of the discussion. But on balance, take it. No one I know ever regretted more training time. I made use of my full grace period before officially starting my post-CCT fellowship so effectively I got 18 months instead of 12.

☢️I kid you not, fully qualified Doctors (F1s) are not allowed be OSCE examiners in Medical school. A random dude (Physician Assistant) with 2-year degree can oversee training of Doctors+PAs of any stage. Bizarre

@pepemac27 I wonder if the doctor being female was a factor... Some of the worst behaviour I've witnessed from nurses towards doctors has been female nurses being extremely critical and unfair towards female doctors.

Shared w me (+shared w permission) by a colleague. This was put into their TAB by a management Nurse. No warning or prior discussion. These "issues" never flagged to them/a supervisor previously. Blaming an F1 for systemic TRUSTwide issues #OneTeam and #Bekind though, right?

@pepemac27 This always baffled me. In my experience, the relationship you have with nursing teams as a foundation doctor is generally inversely proportional to the quality of a doctor you are and the accuracy by which you prioritize tasks

First off, the AA describes the existing SoP as "pretty dreary", but it has "evolved" to do stuff that is "quite out there" & "outside of what is in the SoP". That there are "very few hospitals working within those confines”. (5/15)

🚨PLEASE READ🚨: Earlier today, a video recording of a @gmcuk seminar ("Frontline perspectives on integrating PAs and AAs into multidisciplinary teams") was shared onto Reddit. With @AnaesUnited cooking something big, a more strategic time to share the video was planned. (1/15)

Not sure I’ve seen a clearer example of why the #nhs needs complete reform. Under £100k for the chief of children’s heart surgery @GSTTnhs. Are you kidding ?? 🤔🙄

@dgraemestewart @emergingcannula @NHSHandSan I house the homeless, disabled and those fleeing war torn countries and include healthcare services within my accommodation by collaborating with charities etc. I believe I have probably positively impacted more people through housing than as an Opthalmology trainee.

@emergingcannula @NHSHandSan Sorry, ‘property business’ and all that goes with it one of the root causes of the inter generational inequality in the UK. It’s why 30 year old professionals are still sharing a bathroom with 4 others for over 1k a month. It’s the ultimate grift dressed up as financial‘planning’

The way these consultants gloat about training civilians to do surgery whilst their doctors fight tooth and nail to get to theatre is amazing Punishment for having a medical degree

It always confused me when colleagues weren't equally outraged by the ridiculous amount of unpaid hours required to revise for compulsory exams which are essential for career progression

@DrEilidhMaria I once had a complaint put in about me by the nursing team for not prescribing it an evening on call when they requested. Clearly documented rationale. The psychiatrist thanked me for not prescribing it the following day. Massive need for education on indications and risks.

I am famously not a lawyer. Therefore I cannot understand how this model for recruitment can possibly be legal. It is completely unreasonable to expect adults to upend their lives, potentially with less than 1 month’s notice like this. What on earth.

@NHSHandSan Glad my story has resonated with some of you guys. Make sure you have several exits and don't rely on NHS as a long term career. Ill be marching alongside you for pay restoration (and more)
