@SheaMizer @garypaljr I didn’t say no claiming. Two solutions are adjusting the claiming price relative to the purse, and having lower level handicap races like other parts of the world. Claiming levels have changed very little in the last 20 years, yet the cost of horses and upkeep have gone up a lot

@1FastColt @garypaljr So you’d prefer that there be no claiming races, and fill races for better horses in stakes and allowances? What do you see is the solution to this system that’s been in place for 100 years? I’m not sure how and why you are correlating claiming to foal crop?

This a a serious epidemic when 5 of the 7 horses are claimed for $62,500! More unbelievably one of them was claimed by an “Unknown Trainer”!

@SheaMizer @garypaljr How long have you owned horses? We have owned since 1992. The claiming is in a death spiral reducing the crop sizes. Claimers think it’s great, until it isn’t. It’s like socialism, it works great, until it doesn’t.

@1FastColt @garypaljr Claiming races have been the standard for over 100 years, and I don’t see it going away anytime soon. The same smaller owners and breeders have the same chance to get an allowance or stake horse too and not have to run in claiming races. Claiming gives access to new owners.

@garypaljr @SheaMizer This is lowering the long term supply. Breeder or small owner puts years into a horse & if they aren’t competitive at a certain level, they must run for a tag less than they are worth to win, hence they get claimed. Claimers love it until the system collapses in the future.

@1FastColt @SheaMizer Just another sign of supply being down. We see at the sales and in the claiming game that demand is there but there is limited supply. People want horses, so they have to get them somehow. Just need people to start breeding them!

@SheaMizer I think you are being wise or you wouldn’t lead with it. It’s like saying, “I don’t want to be rude”. In your theory it’s good for the game, then if every horse gets claimed in every race, that is better yet. Clearly not true. Yes, claiming needs to happen.

@1FastColt Not being wise, but what is the epidemic? Horses getting claimed isn't a bad thing, it's actually good for the game.

Fanduel CEO Amy Howe, who recently pulled the plug on the company’s horse racing network, has been fired. Can we please revisit that decision to end FanDuel Racing and put 150-plus people out of work? cnbc.com/2026/05/06/fan…

@jwalkermobile Most cars only require 87 octane. The owners manual will say. Higher octane does not give more power or fuel economy if the engine doesn’t require it. Even cars that require higher octane, don’t need it at high elevations. If you want it improve fuel economy, buy no-ethanol gas
