@1ashpowell @Capt_Fishpaste Absolutely!
But fuck me he was shite at us
English

I see Tuchel is honouring the established tradition of announcing a massive squad before a major tournament to play along with the media narrative that he hasn't already decided who's on the plane.
Proper England manager. Fair play.
England@England
Here we go. It's your #ThreeLions squad for March camp! 👀
English

@wardmajor @Capt_Fishpaste I just think of Sunderland til I die and now think of this moment. What a turn around. Lads mental health was like glass. Fair play to him
English

@Capt_Fishpaste 2/2 happening again next year. If there isn’t a plan then it’s time for a change. I agree he has done an exceptional job but I’m not convinced we kick on with him in charge. Hope I’m made to eat my words
English

I still remember all the 'hope we stick with Le Bris and back him even if we're in a relegation battle' talk after Wembley. That turning into 'sack him' after he's made us safe in March is a bit of a headscratcher. He's done an exceptional job. #SAFC

@Capt_Fishpaste Whilst definitely would have took 17th this season the drop off post Christmas in both seasons is the worry for me. Two different leagues but the same out form. I think he deserves the rest of the season but then a big question needs to be asked in the summer of how we stop 1/2
English

@LukeONien 2/2 this lightly you are up there with Bally. The future is exciting and I’m glad you are here to be part of it. Ha’way the lads!!
English

To any young kid reading this…
I’ve doubted myself in every league I’ve ever played in.
Ryman Prem.
Conference South.
League Two.
League One.
Championship…
And even right before my first Premier League start last night.
That’s not weakness.
That’s being human.
That’s being alive.
When I was growing up, I thought Premier League players were superhuman.
Like they never felt doubt.
Like they never felt nerves.
The truth is…. it’s often the opposite.
Social media won’t tell you that sometimes you step out there with no confidence. That’s normal. That’s ok!
You now have to then step out there with courage.
Confidence feels good.
Courage doesn’t.
But you do it anyway. Show courage enough times…. You build confidence.
Here’s the mindset that’s carried me for 31 years.
When it goes well:
I worked for it.
I earned it.
Well done.
Watch it back.
Get better.
When it doesn’t:
I know I prepared the best I could.
It didn’t go exactly to plan. That’s football.
But Well done.
Watch it back.
Get better.
That simple recipe gave me a special moment last night.
Leading the team out.
Playing alongside a group that fights for every ball.
Celebrates tackles.
Gives everything for the city of Sunderland.
And sharing it with supporters who never gave up, even after four tough seasons in League One.
So if you’re a young player feeling doubt…
Low confidence…
Or like you don’t believe in yourself…
You’re not alone.
Every player feels it.
Confidence isn’t something you’re given.
It’s something you build.
Bit by bit.
Day by day.
With courage.
With work.
With learning.
Anything worth building takes time.
But that’s what makes it so worthwhile!
Thank you @SunderlandAFC ❤️🤍
English

@LukeONien Who would have thought at half time against Charlton on your debut that you would have got Man(Player) of the match on your full debut. You optimise what it means to play for Sunderland. If you leave everything on the pitch you will be loved forever. For me, and I don’t say 1/2
English

@Scottwilsonecho Seen it 3 times this year at the Stadium of light Scott.
We get fouled, then we get a free kick and then we get a yellow card.
English

No red card. But how on earth Gillett deemed it to be a free-kick to Bournemouth is genuinely staggering... #SAFC 0-1
English

@TheAdrianDurham When Prem league refs drop into the championship they struggle week after week as they have become so reliant on VAR. It’s only highlighted this time as it’s two Prem teams. The inconsistency with VAR is probably worse than the inconsistency with onfield decisions
English

@Ash_Singh84 @FA_PGMOL Yeah cos there are no mistakes with var....😱
The debate moved on from how many mistakes some time ago mate, it's about how var changes the game. Some of us think it changes football beyond palatable recognition.
English

People calling for VAR to be scrapped, like @TheAdrianDurham, I hope they’re watching the Villa Newcastle game. Officials have been awful. Abraham is offside for the goal, Digne should have seen a red and Newcastle should’ve had a pen. Incompetent @FA_PGMOL #AVLNEW
English

@krespeakman Sorry to see you leave Kristjaan. I’m sure you will be back in football soon enough. Thanks for all of your efforts at Sunderland. We definitely wouldn’t be where we are without your long hours. All the best for the future and hope to see you back at the SoL soon
English

@Emma_blakey @OctopusEnergy ALS worth remembering that Octopus and all energy companies are targeted on new installs rather than fixes so the focus is on them rather than a fix. That’s not Octopuses fault mind you that’s the lawmakers not setting a level playing field. Best of luck though you will get there
English

How can a national company like @OctopusEnergy not have any dates over the next 4 weeks to fix my gas meter? And then the person on the phone shouts at me? I mean its been broken for four months I should be the one angry
English

@Tweed_Barnesy @JoanneYougson RIP George, sorry to hear this sad news. Heaven Branch gained a VIP today ❤️🤍
English

Heartbreaking to hear of the passing of Mr.Sunderland George Forster.
A true legend and character who will always be remembered by the Sunderland family. A very sad day and my love to all his family. Forever in our hearts ♥️ #safc

@JamesCopley_ This happened a few weeks ago where he looked like he didn’t have a clue where he was supposed to be. Just a game we have to put in the bin and move on. Too many players on an off day
English

Love Trai Hume, but not even sure where he is supposed to be playing here.
He's in the middle at times but keeps dropping into the right-back spot and popping up on the wing.
He has been poor so far. Feel for him.
#SAFC
English

@henrywinter If it was ruled off because of an obstruction to Pope or Thiaw. If it’s Pope then Thiaw would have blocked him anyway. 7 minutes and I still don’t really believe a decision was made other than a panicked one from onfield ref (2/2)
English

... but fans’ frustrations must be heeded. VAR's not going to be scrapped so let’s improve the standards of those applying it, stick to clear and obvious, set a 90-second time limit and have live audio of decision-making process. Column 2/2
open.substack.com/pub/henrywinte…
English

@henrywinter I totally agree on the time limit. Max 2 mins if you still haven’t decided then on field decision stands. Problem last night is no one wanted to make a decision so got passed back to on field ref who was left with no choice but to rule the goal off. Also, no clear indication 1/2
English

@x_JustMe_xxx Happy New Year Matey, hopefully a good year for the Terriers and the Black Cats
English

@Capt_Fishpaste Absolutely, until it’s mathematically impossible I’ll worry. Still looking down rather than up 🤣🤣
English

Are there any #SAFC fans out there still worried about relegation, by the way?
English

@JamesCopley_ Started their training for the Bournemouth game 🤣🤣
