Good morning @everyone, We did say we were going to start the continuing of College Football Focus with a new look. So here is the new main logo of College football focus. We wanted to keep with the old and bring a new flare in it. Mike's blessing was important so with that being said, the new logo will be present on this and future posts moving forward. Hopefully you all like it. Also, more things will be coming for College football focus. More updates to come!!

Our first really big event of our new journey will be The annual HBCU Hall of Fame classic in Canton, Ohio. Johnson C. Smith and Albany State will do battle and you can bet we will be there to cover all the action and of course the bands!! September 6th, the @216Network, WE GOT YOU COVERED!!!

Hello everyone, im Mel Thorpe owner of the 216 Sports Network. With the blessing of our dear friend and mentor Mike Wachsman we will be taking over College football focus. We want everyone to know we will continue to put the focus and fun back into College football on social media. Our first order of business will start tomorrow as we will unveil a new surprise to the page. Hopefully you guys will like it. STAY TUNED!

Hey all. Quick update -- this account will continue to be active but will be taken over and run by Mel Thorpe of the @216Network. I have been a guest on his platform and the dude truly loves and knows football, and he should be an excellent custodian of the account going forward. I don't know what sort of plans he has in store, but I am asking that you give him a chance and follow his content. The change could happen as soon as this weekend as I am turning access over to him today, though he may be able to better tell you what will happen and when. As I stated in my previous sign-off, my time here was (mostly) enjoyable, and I hope that I enriched some people with the content I put up. Not sure that my love for college football will stay the same with all of these changes going on, but if it does for you -- great. Everyone stay safe and enjoy your summer -- and say hi to Mel once he gets things going with this account.

Hey all. It's been a minute, and other than a couple of perusals of the timeline I have managed to stay off of this platform. This is a quick hit, and then I am back out. When I left Twitter I mentioned a number of reasons why -- the fun component shrinking, not being able to monetize, family health issues. This has to do with the last item on that list. In my latest column for @OhioStateBSB I wrote about the sporting bond between parents and children (notably fathers and sons) as way to inform that on March 13th, we lost our son Liam at age 26. He was a bright light in our world but he could not outrun his demons. We mourn him every day but also have many rich memories. We have learned that it's one foot in front of the other, day by day, and you get by. Not as it was before, but still get by. My column is below. UPDATE: Hey all. First off, I want to congratulate the Indiana Hoosiers for their first-ever national championship. Never in a million years did I think those words would be typed, yet here we are. The job that Curt Cignetti has done in Bloomington making the Hoosiers gridiron relevant is nothing short of amazing. A tip of the cap to him and his staff, and a group of young men who were super fun to watch! With that out of the way, I would like to give a brief update. This season has been a bit of a slog, and as it progressed I found that the excitement was waning. Sure, there were some excellent games, but for whatever reason they weren’t hitting the way they used to. I was begging out of late games at halftime and didn’t really feel like I was missing anything. That was the first signal that maybe it was time to step back and really examine things. My podcast did not gain traction the way I had hoped, and while doing something for the fun and love of it is great, at some point you want it to be financially viable. That did not happen, and while I am proud of the work that was produced, it hurt the ego just a bit that it wasn’t seen or embraced by a wider audience. So I need to find something that makes money. There have also been some family health issues that have cut into the time I have had to produce content, and we all know that family comes first. With all of that, it’s time for me to go. I want to thank all of the guests who have appeared on my podcast over the past three seasons. They have been great and educational, and occasionally amusing. “Meeting” and talking ball with some like-minded accounts has brought a great thrill – there are some tremendous ball-knowers in the world of X -- among them @AlwaysTalkBall , @ThreeTechPod , @UpdogSportsTalk , @KicknitWTheGrid @JakeCrain_ , @TheMSCPodcast , @CFBwSam , @DustyDvoracek , and many, many others. I appreciate anyone I have had friendly (and maybe not-so-friendly) banter with, and don’t hold it against anyone who thinks they got the upper hand on me (even though they didn’t). Saturdays will look very different going forward. No more wall-to-wall college football, though I will still watch Ohio State. You can’t take the Buckeye out of the boy. Beyond Ohio State, my sports viewing will be minimal – maybe nothing (save for possibly Arsenal. Go Gunners!). Had you told me when I was 30 that I would no longer be interested in sports at large when I was 60, I would have said you were crazy. But here we are. I cannot say whether I will be back. At this moment I would guess that I won’t be, but I guess you never say never. There is that lottery thing, after all … Thanks again to all who have appeared on my podcast and those who have had me as a guest on theirs. It was great fun. Sayonara, friends. And #GoBucks

OSU fans' reactions to the last two outside coordinator hires and the actual performance: OC Chip Kelly 2024: "He's washed; terrible hire; there goes the offense," Result: Improved Scoring from 45th (30.5) to 12th (35.7) and YPP from 25th (6.38) to third (6.95); helped OSU to a national title in 2024. DC Matt Patricia 2025 "Terrible fit; bad culture as a head coach; what he has done lately?" Result: Improved Scoring D from 12.9 to 9.3, third-lowest total in the BCS/CFP era, Improved YPP from 4.19 to 4.00 So forgive me if I chuckle at the hand-wringing from Buckeye Nation about guys interviewing for the OC gig. #GoBucks
