Another quiet migrant day on Salisbury Plain but over 500 birds ringed in the last 4 mornings. We have now passed 100 Grasshopper Warbler's in a year for the 1st time & it's a record year for Garden's with over 160. However, worst year ever for Willow's with only 70 ringed so far

Love some efficient birding. 15 minutes at Welbeck Raptor Watchpoint in Notts early this afternoon after work and this male Honey Buzzard flew right over the road. Some of my best views here. Welcome home! 🏡

@Rhewitt2 Nice one Rodger. Catching a few adult siskin but no juveniles yet. Had an adult song thrush in wing moult yesterday - looks like it’s given up on breeding this year.

Nice to have a young Siskin in the garden this afternoon.

Checking our Little Owl boxes today. Its a poor year so was surprised to find 7 eggs in one box....then discovered that there were two females! (Photo shows both with brood patches). Polygyny in Little Owls is very rare.

Many moons ago where this line of trees sit was actually a green lane used for access to fields. Now overgrown it’s home to many little song birds. In particular, as you can hear a Common Chiffchaff, which seems to have been shouting at me for an entirety this spring

Sat in our garden at BRIANTSPUDDLE having lunch at 1.15pm and this beauty flew over our house circled a few times then flew east, much to the annoyance of the local buzzard.
