@cyclist @robyn_emz I spoke to Giusy Virelli about this earlier in the year. She said it's a good idea, but you have to consider the economics plus other races in the women's calendar around then. Milan-Sanremo Donne was great, but careful planning was needed as it was so close to The Binda race.

@willfoth @cyclingweekly I'm sorry to read this. I was a member of Dulwich Paragon in the past and marshalled at Wally Gimber. I'm surprised at the lack of insurance. In the normal running, many races just break even. Deferring would mean paying again for logistics. Cancelling was maybe the lesser evil.

@DeeBeeCW The thing is isn't it just a classic marketing decision? If you plot UK market on a business matrix it's basically a dog, where mainland Europe is a cash cow and certain other markets are stars. So Warner Brothers Discovery have nothing to lose by employing this tactic in the UK.

@cyclingweekly It's a shame for UK cycling fans that live coverage of bike racing will be behind a more expensive pay wall than before. But Warner Brothers Discovery don't see the UK cycling market as a growth area, so it's not a surprise. Even ITV now see that their future is in horse racing.

Watching Rob Brydon's (aka Bryn's) stereotyped portrayal of an amateur cyclist (a MAMIL even) on #GavinAndStacey made me chuckle. The helmet-cam, replica world champion's jersey, it did happen cos it's on Strava, the angry cyclist...trope-tastic! Where did he get the mitts from?

Enjoying watching a bit of Dave Allen. Vintage comedy, but still some clever lines. Given this was in the 80s the guy was ahead of his time.
